Drilled and tapped my stock shift lever for a GP-style shift pattern. Wished I had some real nice aftermarket rearsets, and I do plan on getting a set this spring, but this mod was free so why not? Now if only the weather would cooperate for a test ride... I did the same - so much nicer lol. I'm thinking of just powdercoating my stock setup in satin black to match the rest of the bike. The position is fine with me so I don't feel I need to drop ~$600 on a new setup lol So this works with the factory quick shifter? What size drill and tap did you use?

Yes it works perfectly fine with the QS. It's either an M5 or M6 tap, I forget off the top of my head but I can let you know when I get home from work later this afternoon. On the backside of the lever there's a flat spot that looks like it could be used for it so that's where I drilled and tapped mine. In stock setup when you pull the lever up to upshift it pulls on the QS sensor. In GP mode you push the lever down and it's still pulling on the sensor. The shift lever motion is reversed but the shift shaft and QS sensor motion is still the same. If you flip the arm on the shift shaft instead then it'll be pushing on the sensor in GP mode and then it won't work (it'll cut ign for downshifting but won't make the throttle blip so don't do that lol)

Hi!!
Tried to fit my RG Crash bungs on my new MT 10 but was foiled by not having a hex key to remove the engine bolts. Anybody know what size hex key I need...?

I used a 4.2mm drill bit for the hole

And the quickshifter still works?

And the quickshifter still works? Yes. With the OEM setup you pull the lever up to upshift which pulls the linkage down and pulls on the sensor. In GP shift mode you push the shift lever down instead of up but since the linkage is on the other side of the pivot it still pulls on the QS sensor. If you were to remove the shift shaft arm up top and rotate that 180ΒΊ then it wouldn't work as you'd be pushing the sensor instead of pulling it

Got it! I think I'm going to try this out. Thanks for explaining that.

Get a link pipe! that color is pretty nice. I'd definitely recommend getting a link pipe and integrated taillight if you don't already.(I'm blind lol) I see you also have the TST low profile lights, I love those things.

I can see your not doing the mt10 justice π’ as it has flat center tread in the tire! You are hereby ordered to 3 days of track day only riding and hopefully will learn from this! Wheelies are not everything π΅βπ«π€¨

Wheelies are not everything π΅βπ«π€¨ LOL! Unfortunately, part of the agreement with the wife was no more track for me. I really only get to ride on straight highways to work =( Still love the bike though! Trust me, I've tried for track days.... until the kids grow up

I had a link pipe, but it was WAAY too loud. LOL After the ride home, my ears were ringing for 15 min (and I was wearing earplugs)!

If you got your old pipe still, I'd be down to trade + cash on my end.

I am picking up a new to me C14 on Saturday and she will be parked next to my Yamaha FZ10. Loving this bike since I picked it up last October. Did some research and read these articles then Made some changes to make it my own. The crossplane motor with the Akrapovic Exhaust is just pure evil music. Going to use the C14 for two up and longer trip riding. The FZ is going to be for short rides and around town.
