I have to admit that i find the look of the blacked out exhaust and cat converter pretty badass! Great Stuff! Me too. That black exhaust looks badass.

I posted instructions for removing the pipes in the Tech Tip post "Exhaust Look Like *&^%."
Cheers,

Red stitching looks good. Kinda wish I had done it.

Red stitching looks good. Kinda wish I had done it. Sets it off a little. I like the red accents.

Well ...I've done a ton, but haven't individually documented much of it! lol Today though, I finally addressed the gaping holes where the OEM mirrors were attached. A much bigger PITA than I was anticipating due, in part, to the reverse thread on one of the mirror stalks. I ordered two black anodized M4 fairing bolts for a Ducati (they get all the nice stuff) and some M4 well-nuts to push down into the holes (M5 well-nuts really don't fit in there well). ...only the guy lied, and the fairing bolts were M5. ...so I get some M5 well-nuts and thread them down in there with the help of some WD40. lol Trim off the amount of rubber skirt that wouldn't fit in the holes, then thread in the bolts. ...but they look a little barren by themselves. ...so I ordered this kit, which has nice looking aluminum washers. ...then drill out the center since they are chamfered inside to accept their own flat head allen-bolts (and the Ducati ones have a square spacer-shoulder on them) ...and finally get them all put back on there. Since they're threaded into well-nuts, that are missing half their rubber skirts, they won't really tighten down hard, but they are also not going anywhere. The one on the clutch side overhangs the mirror mount slightly (you can see in the photos) but you don't notice it, and the throttle side fits about perfectly ...and that one was the worst because the top of the mirror mount stalk is bare aluminum, where the other side is painted black for some reason. Not sure why they are different sizes / finishes, guessing they were simply sourced from different machines for this particular parts-bin bike.

Put the battery in and fired up the beast today. Let it get to operating temperature, ran through the gears on the stands, let cool down and recovered with its winter covers. Hurry up SPRING!!

Nothing today but so far I had to mount a new S21(?) rear tire, got a nail in the OEM. So far so good. I got the comfort seat, very nice. I have the tall windscreen on the way and I would like to get the saddle bags. Oh, I also took the Shorai L.I. battery out of my FZ1 and put it in the FZ-10. These Shorai's are really great, like 5 lbs lighter than Lead Acid and I've used them in track bikes that get started every month or two and daily commuters, all the same starts right up, no issues. Hand guards, heated grips and a tail tidy in the future. Can you post a picture of your heated grips? Which kind did you get an how did you go about wiring it?

Just finished installing my Graves block-off plates. It was so stressful trying to remove the body panels because I didn't want to break any of the snaps. Called my car mechanic friend in to help me and he pretty much did the entire installation. Gotta buy him a meal and some beer in the future. No engine codes when I removed the O2 sensors and the AIS. Nels' tune took care of that. Everything should be good to go once my exhaust comes in.

Changed out my factory shock to my brand new Stoltec/Penske 8983 Double Clicker today. Rider sag set to approximately 40mm. With a warming trend (50s) expected going into this weekend, I plan to give it a good road test. More news to follow.

Front and rear completed. i don't have enough time on the bike yet for a full report, but it's a hell of a lot tighter.

I noticed the same. The bike felt like a rock when I sat on it and did a couple of bounces. Riding should be quite a change.
