I concur that an integrated unit is confusing to drivers, but don't really see the sense of getting a BlasterX IT and keeping the OEM signals. What's the point? I don't get the point either... and actually, I may have misspoke, I thought you could buy a harness and use both OEM signals with the signals of the IT but I can't find it so I must be misremembering. I know I've seen it before, just attributed it to the wrong site. Not trying to start a debate, but I'm not sure how the IT would be anymore confusing to motorists than basic hand turn signals. I could see a motorist being confused if I stick my left arm out to the side and either extend it out or angle it 90-degree upward and just thinking I'm stretching my arm or getting ready to pump my fist or something. With the IT, yellow blinker on the left of the light... I'm going left. Yellow blinking on the right... I'm turning right. If a driver gets that confused because the yellow blinking lights are closer together than usual, I think they should re-evaluate their competency to operate a motor vehicle. (But I'm a self-admitted prick when it comes to anyone driving; I have low tolerance for stupidity behind the wheel/handlbars/etc.) you're not crazy -- someone in one of the build threads here definitely built a custom harness that allowed him to retain and use his OEM rear signals in addition to the integrated tail light signals. I went about with hacking my last bike's wiring up in the rear and I didn't feel all that comfortable wiring things. If I did it this time I'd use posi-tap for everything. I do think my r6 had a 'confusing' integrated tail light and although these are wider i'd still like to run the OEM signals if i went that route. I do like that some aftermarket lights are brighter and have a repeating brake light, which I think grabs drivers' attention. I got my quarter turn gas cap in the mail yesterday and I'll be installing it at some point this week, or the weekend at latest. I'm excited to not have to remove my key 2-3 times/week.

Motodynamic sells turn signal splitter harnesses. I used these with their integrated taillight, signal relay, and Rizoma turn signals on my FZ1. It was EPIC! Very bright and absolutely no way any person with vision and attention could misinterpret my turning intentions. I don't see the FZ(MT)10 listed on their products, and I haven't looked at the turn signals on our bike to see what fitting it uses. This is the one mod my wife has asked me to do again. She followed behind me before when I had my FZ1 with the aforementioned setup. www.motodynamic.com/yamaha/wire-harness.html

Here's the thread on a DIY for wiring your signals in with the BlasterX tail light.

Got a flat tire on my way to a mountain run (thank God I caught it before I was too far up the mountain) so it was an excuse to order a michelen pilot road 5 😏

Swapped to softer fork springs and replaced the original tires with Metzeler Roadtec 01s. The suspension action seems a little more comfortable and better balanced front-to-rear. The new tires feel great . . . but then, new tires always feel great. Hopefully, they last longer than the originals, which were done at less than 3,500 miles.

Cleaned/lubed/adjusted the chain, washed/waxed, and installed this: It looks great but I'm concerned about gas leaking and general fuel evaporation. I already ordered the unit blackchu did to do a comparison.

I have ~4400 on my oem tires. Hoping to run them through the rest of the season. Tread is getting low in the rear, though.

Stock tires are sport category, so yeah, typically less than 4K miles. I plan to replace them with sport-touring, specifically Pilot Road 5s as well.

My wear bars aren't showing and the tires feel pretty OK, but I ordered a set of Road 5s. I try to ride through december when it gets into the 40s so I might as well just do the swap now. I have run PR4s, PP2s, and now I'll have R5s. They sure are expensive though.

Hey guys, has anybody here have adapted the OEM tail without that awkward metal extension? I'd like to use the OEM piece, but don't think you can just put it without the metal piece. The bolt spacing seems to be the same, but the rear portion of the tail would hit the taillight. The solution would be spacers all around to clear the taillight, of about 1/2", by my estimation. It'd look factory, rather than those aftermarket options that don't look bad, but prefer the OEM piece. Thanks gang.

Assembled an early b-day gift - Ace Bikes U-Turn Motor Mover. I've got 2-car garage and cram the bike and 2 cars in during winter so I can keep everything indoors during harsher weather. Hoping the mover will make it easier to jockey the bike around instead of doing the 50-point turns whenever I only have one car out of the garage. (Don't give me the "pivot it on the side stand" stuff.. I don't have the cojones to try it )So far it works as advertised. Slightly bigger casters would have been nice. Once the casters get angled in different directions you have to muscle it around a bit more to get it going but it still saves time. Assembly was pretty easy, assembly instructions are just pictures but it made sense for the most part. There was one weird adjustment step using a piece of included PVC piping, it took a minute to figure out what was going on where a few sentences would've helped a bit. Last night... took my bike for a ride for some more glamour photos which didn't go as well as I'd hoped... stopped and enjoyed the sunset. Then rode home and spent about a half hour cleaning bugs off my gear. The helmet photo is after I stopped once on my way home to clean off the visor. Stupid bugs.
