NOTE: This is incomplete because I need to get more pictures. I also ordered some connectors and will update the final section once I finish that part.
It's an easy process and could be followed as is, but I'll add more over the next week.
i wanted to get this out there because it's an excellent product and deserves to be seen.
Today, I received and installed a Blaster-X integrated tail light and turn signal module with flashing brake light. In Savannah, the drivers are so bad and completely distracted. Brake light visibility gives me a bit more comfort.
It's $10 cheaper to buy direct, plus free shipping.

This video shows the FZ-09 version. (Not my bike or video.)
The install is simple.
This one is mine.
Disassemble the tail pieces exactly like the process for installing the Vagabond Fender Eliminator. Obviously, stop short of breaking down the license plate bracket if you aren't adding a fender eliminator. The point is to get the fender stuff out of the way so you can slide the tail light aft and out. It just slides out once the fender pieces are lowered away from the tail.
You'll need to unplug the connector by pushing the tab until it clicks, then pull it apart. Also, unplug the turn signals as shown in the Vagabond video. (Push tab, click, pull apart.) The black connector is for the left side turn signal.
Note: it's possible to use the Blaster-X built-in turn signal AND the stock signals, but you'll need a Y-Harness (unless you want to cut and splice, or use position-taps.)
Once it's out, detach the bracket from the stock tail light by removing the two #6 Allen screws.
Attach the bracket to the Blaster-X using the same screws.
Feed the wires forward.
Plug the tail light connector.
Plug both turn signal connectors.
Test that it works as advertised.
Reassemble everything the same way it all came apart.
I opted to keep my stock signals too. Again, Savannah drivers.
To do this, you can make simple Y-Harnesses so nothing gets a permanent mod. I'll update this section once my parts arrive.
Here's what you'll need.
Y-Harness made from OEM connectors Sumitomo 2P 025wp TS.
Two harnesses, each with a single female connector and two male connectors.
Purchase from
easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__Products/Connectors/Sealed/TS025/ts025.htmlI ordered the large so I can connect the two split wires into the connectors.
It will help to have a good crimping tool.
Here are the connectors Yamaha used for the rear signals.
