The dealer prep fee seems high these days, doesn’t the mt-10 come assembled besides wheels and maybe fluid? Literally all they do is put the mirrors on, fill/charge the battery (I think a lot are coming filled form the factory now though), check the tire pressures and put gas in it. They come with oil and coolant already filled, dealer just checks levels once the bike is fired up for the first time. They also check the operation of all lights, switches, horn etc. Again that takes 5 seconds to do the first time the bike is started lol.

Same here. There are several within 100 miles of me, and several more out to 200 miles. Mostly 2021. There is also a new 2019 SDR for a good price that I almost bit at.

I'm really hoping that I can get my hands on one shortly! I'm a bit nervous because I heard that the seat height is a bit taller on the new generation... I really hope I don't have to get the bike lowered.

I actually looked at that bike. They were $12999.00 OTD except for sales tax and registration which you pay at the DMV. Thet seemed like a nice mom and pop shop. I stopped at another dealer that afternoon and offered same price except gave me 150.00 in parts credit and offered to deliver to my house for free (almost 1 hr away), plus do the registration for me. Too good to pass that one up. I was thinking in my mind I was going to buy the one at Wheels of Freedom before I stumbled on this other dealership.

I bought a 2016 XSR900 from Motorsports Nation. I put a deposit on an leftover 2018 MT 10 about 2 years ago there. I was going to trade my 2017 FJ 09 and pay cash and finance through the credit union but the credit union wouldn't approve as much as I needed. I explained the problem to MSN and asked if they could do the financing. They got it approved but gave me a crazy high rate, mostly because they thought they had me by the balls. I called the credit union back and figured out that they thought I was buying a 2nd bike rather than trading one in and paying off the loan. Once I got it explained they approved the amount I requested at about 1/3 the rate MSN. I was pissed because originally MSN quoted a rate in line with the credit union. In fact I was so pissed off that I found a 2019 for the same price at Parkway Cycle in Everette. It was very satisfying going back to MSN and getting my deposit back and canceling. He asked my why I was canceling and I looked him in the eye and told him I bought one from another dealer because he tried to jack me up on the financing. Dealers will be as predatory as you allow them to be.
I had a Ducati dealer try and pull a maneuver with financing. The day we went in to sign papers, the monthly payment was $10 more than they quoted. When I pointed that out, he said that was the payment and there was nothing he could do about it. I immediately told him to give me my deposit back. He came back in after about 10 minutes and redid the contract at the quoted payment. $10 a month is $600 more over the course of the loan. Dealers know that people get so excited about buying a new motorcycle that sometimes agree to stuff a lot easier. I'm always willing to walk if I can't get the best deal.

I found a 2019 for the same price at Parkway Cycle in Everette. That's where I bought my 2019! Those guys were great to deal with. They matched the online price of an identical bike that was listed in Concord NH. Worth the hour drive out there for sure. Also didn't try to push anything extra or dick around with the financing at all. One of the front signals was broken and they told me it was on order and I could wait until it was fixed or just pick it up. I asked if they would mind just sending it to me when it came in and I'd swap it myself and they said no problem. Signal came in along with a $25 gift card to their store which was nice. They also included the invoice and I almost shit myself when I saw that the signal costs $180 lol

Sorry I guess I should have mentioned that I paid cash. Although I think dealers prefer you to finance rather than pay cash.

Sorry I guess I should have mentioned that I paid cash. Although I think dealers prefer you to finance rather than pay cash. 100% they do. Also bringing your own financing is still considered a cash buyer to the dealer. Dealers make money from their financing. When I've had my own financing or been paying cash I still take their financing (make sure there's no pre-pay penalty) so I can get whatever offers the MFR has at the time and then just pay it off immediately with the cash or with the loan approval form the CU/bank or whatever

There's a 2022 MT10SP listed on ebay. It has the stock photo. I sent the seller a message asking if they actually had one and to send me a real pic. They didn't send a pic, and I don't think they have the bike, but they sent me a quote. I thought others may find this amusing like I did. They have MSRP listed as 17,499 + 1,645 destination + 575 prep/assembly + 379 doc fees, for a *special* price of 20,098... not including any tax! Add a conservative estimate of 6% sales tax and that brings out the door price to 21,303.88. I get paying MSRP because of market conditions and supply being low, but this price gouging shit is insane! I hope no one gets screwed over like this.. now if it's just someone with a bunch of money that doesn't care, that's different... but most people with a bunch of money, ummm, care...

MSRP is $600 less and the destination charges are only $630 from Yamaha. So they're whacking you with an extra $1600 right off the bat. $575 for prep/assembly is too high for this bike and $379 doc fees are always BS charges.

There's no way they already have the bike unless they stole it directly from Japan. They didn't even have the SP model ready for the press launch that happened in Italy recently. To be honest - depending on how supply looks - dealerships may be able to get away with this robbery... But we will see.

I have a deposit on a regular mt10 with a dealer in GA that has some confirmed orders. I was just curious why this dealer had a posting on ebay for a bike that is not in the USA yet. Yamaha USA doesn't even have a normal mt10 yet. They said they hope to get one next month. I was at a demo event last week and they still had a 21 mt10 there.
I'm prepared to pay msrp, but if the dealer tries to tack on a market adjustment I'll walk. I know yamaha has increased freight and they will hit me with a prep fee, but it shouldn't be more than a few hundred.
