I asked them about this just 2 weeks ago I find that very hard to believe since Yamaha never give their dealers any heads up on what's coming according to all the Yamaha dealers in Sweden I've spoken to. My local dealer even showed me their system where they order the bikes from and all it said was something like Yamaha MT-10 MY20 and no specs or colours (which it normally states according to him).

Yeah the dealers might not have all the info yet, but i wasnt talking to the dealers but Yamaha themselves, the importers, those who handle the ...... import of the bikes TO the dealers . Im just a messenger - i asked, got the answer and shared it here.

I don't doubt one bit the MT-10 won't change in 2020. It only makes sense, since it came out in 2017, and it's not a major seller. Even if you count Europe's 2016 MY, it'll only be 5 years old in 2020. Maybe 2021, if not 2022. I think Yamaha likes the R1 to have all the attention on a revision for a year or two, no? We'll see .

I'm sure the 'new' MT-10 will be just a mild revision (like the R1), but my guess is it'll have the IMU features (cornering ABS, etc) the R1 has now, which will give Yamaha the excuse to bump the price quite a bit. I don't think the bike can get much better than it is right now, but we'll see .

The MT-10 is seriously price constrained already in its segment....they can't afford to add fun stuff like like IMU, color dash, etc. and still keep the price within reason. This is NOT a hot seller, don't look for any changes until 2021 at the minimum and maybe not until 2022.

Euro 5, the wonderful and restrictive regulations for motorcycles in Europe comes into effect on 1st Jan 2015.
The current MT is not Euro5 compliant so changes will have to be made for Europe if nothing else.
Given the packages is already developed for the new R1 I can see a lot of those changes coming to the MT. I don't think we'll get colour screen as they'll be reserved for the SP but I can see the electronics package and blipper making an appearance. I don't think the looks will change either but would love to see a bigger tank.
The price will go up too.

Hey Mrcdharwood, 2015 was 4 years ago . If you meant 2025, it's a long time ahead, and for sure the MT will have changed by then. And yes, it'd be great if Yamaha added the electronics package and/or up/down QS with blipper even as options, to keep the base price decent.

Maybe you could have spent 20 seconds searching da web instead of padding your post count

I would think it would be the #1 most sold supernaked. maybe not the fz10 but the 07 and 09

Price, looks, serious competition, and if you haven't noticed new bike sales are on a slide, maybe permanently. The recent poll on this site showed the ownership age skewed to the older spectrum, this is due in large part to price and insurance. Ergo these units are not flying out of the showrooms.

Okay, so 2020. I don't think Euro5 would be hard to meet; I'm sure Yamaha took that into consideration.
And whoever can't see the FZ/MT-10 is a slow seller, has to be blind. Ha ha. I've never seen another on the streets yet (running, or parked), and I've traveled quite a bit in the last 2 years. Of the 3 dealers near me (over 1M people), only ONE ordered ONE 2017 FZ-10, and that's the one I bought in SEP 2018!!! Another dealer got one 2018, and they still have it. None of the 3 ordered a 2019. I'm glad it's a slow seller because that means it's a relatively rare bike. Wonder how many Yamaha has sold each year in the US since it came here as a 2017 MY. Does anybody have numbers? I has to be one of the slowest selling bikes IMO.

Does anybody have numbers? I has to be one of the slowest selling bikes IMO. When I was shopping for the MT-10, one dealer outright admitted it was a poor seller. He stated the MT-09 & MT-07 were the hotter models and was stuck with last years inventory he couldn't move. He also stated he would make me a deal nobody else could offer. When I got an estimate on how much insurance would be, it was a shock even with a squeaky clean license. The MT-07 was less then half of what the same model year MT-10 would be. Being it's the more expensive model and figuring in the cost of insurance, the bike is simply a non-starter for many. IDK, I'm very happy with the MT-10 even if the cost of ownership is a little absurd.

I honestly didn't check any other bikes, so don't know how much less the MT-09, for example, would have been. Just got my renewal, and it's $516 a year (paid in full) with max limits and all options (incl. medical payments, roadside, etc), with $250 deductible for uninsured/underinsured, $375 comprehensive, and $750 collision. I pay $944 per year for my new $67K Platinum F-150 4x4 every 6 months, so yeah, it's a bit much for a $10K bike IMO too. But for what I've heard from others ($100/month), I wasn't shocked with the quote, at half that. This is with Progressive (TX), also with a perfect driving record.
Anyway, I'll probably renew my policy exactly the way it is now, this second year. But the next, will review coverages, and decide if it's wise to make some changes. I could drop the comprehensive, since bike is garaged all the time, so chances of getting stolen on a trip are next to none. And same thing with my new house burning to the ground. Or just increase the deductible. Things like that.

Let's just wait and see if the MT-10 gets revised for 2020 (appart from euro5). It will most likely be unveiled in november at EICMA, who's going? My bet is on a facelift, no more transformers front end.

+1 on no more transformer look. Yamaha just release their 2020 R3 and R6. I hope the hypernaked lineup is next.

If the 2020 MT-10 has removed the "Transformer Look" I wonder how long it will be before someone with an older bike could order front end parts to "upgrade" their look. I like the look of my '19 but if the '20 looks even better then I'd consider swapping out a few body parts for the new look.
