Hello all. I'm curious what criteria you all use when deciding on an exhaust? I am starting to look into what set up I want so I know what to start saving for, but man is it tough. For looks I absolutely love the akra and austin racing 3/4 system but the price is definitely high. I understand it is due to the titanium construction. I honestly think the Austin racing would be to loud for daily use though. I keep going back to the m4 system but have mixed feelings about the looks of this system. I really like the low mounting point but the can looks a little odd to me. The yosh system is starting to grow on me but I still have mixed feelings about the conical shaped muffler and i have been seeing some posts on other bikes saying the system tends to have a drone on the highway. Not sure id the fz10 would have this issue. The two bros system is another that I keep looking at. Also the recent addition of the termignoni slip on gave me the idea of this can with an arrow mid pipe. As you can see my thoughts on an exhaust are all over the place. So if you guys have any advice/input I would love to hear it.

I chose mine based on appearance, quality of build and the sound. I have run Akrapovic many times and their build quality is outstanding. The welds are gorgeous on the Titanium Mid-Pipe. The lines of the exhaust match the bike perfectly to me. I did swap out the decal that it came with to the one in my pics since I removed all the red on my bike (Decals and Rotors) with the exception of the rear shock. That will be next year once the wallet stops smoking from this years mods. LOL Here are some pics and a few videos. I will say the bike sounds even better in person. I will be working on some clips of the exhaust with the camera off the bike. (rolling at normal in town speed, normal 60 mph rolling, normal take off and some runs by banging the Quick Shifter.

Thanks for the info. I have to agree, the akra system is the best looking to me and I'm sure the sound is excellent too. I would love to hear it in person because videos definitely don't do justice when it comes to exhaust sound. I just wish the akra wasn't so expensive.

Honestly, I usually call Nels at two wheel dyno works and ask which exhaust makes the most HP for whatever I bike I own at that time. Then I send him my ecu and have him build a tune around that exhaust and bike.

I will definitely be in touch with him. I plan to have him flash my ecu when i get the exhaust. I'll have to ask him what he suggests.

image upload widgetI went with the graves EVR Titanium with a carbon can, it retains the EXUP valve and the tune optimizes its operation for max torque and power.

I went with the Austin Racing exhaust because I was drooling all over it when I first saw it on the R1. I always ride with earplugs in and the volume level for me is perfect. The diamond shape end cap on the exhaust looks awesome and it sounds amazing. Just had a neighbor compliment the sound of my bike few hours ago when I got home . new upload photosI do love the Austin racing system. Have you road it without earplugs? Curious how loud it is with out them?

Is your canister shorter than the normal one? Looks better than the other pics of the graves system I have seen.

This is the new system that retains the exup which allows you to run a shorter can without losing torque

This can is 265 mm, I think the cans for the regular systems are 300 mm.

Just looked into the graves system and realized the one I was originally looking at wasn't the evr system. Hence the huge muffler. Thanks for info. How is the graves system volume wise?

Never rode without earplugs but one time my earplugs weren't quite in correctly and I could just hear the exhaust sound echo in the city because of the sound bouncing off the buildings so it's very loud. As you are riding you will occasionally get pedestrians look around to see whats coming. My friends tell me that when we are riding on the highway, my bike is all they can hear 😄. One of my friends has a FZ-07 with a full Yoshimura system and my bike just completely drowns out his sound.

I love Yoshimura exhausts for the deep growl and I had them on my 2008 FZ1 and 2014 CB1000R...so I am biased Went with the Yoshimura Alpha T 3/4 Stainless Steel system w/Graves Block Off plates. Nels installed it, flashed the ECU and ran it on the Dyno. It's spitting out 152.5HP...I believe it's the second highest he's seen after the Graves Full System which costs almost 3 times of what I spent. IMO, end of the day, it comes down to personal preference. Best of luck!
