Looking to add a topbox/case. Tempted to go with the OEM option from my dealer, but I'm wondering if the Givi system would be better. Any thoughts? Vagabond and SW Motech both have rear racks for the FZ, the SW Motech accepts different baseplates depending on which top box you purchase, or you can mount a tank lock ring and use a tank bag with it. I usually ride with a 10L Kriega bag on the SW Motech rack and their City 5-9L small tank bag on the tank, it is low profile and will hold a few essentials, I keep a few tools and tire repair kit in the Kriega, and I have the Blaze bags if I want more carrying capacity.

H&B c-bow carrier easy to install the bags and they are lockable. So I found these c-bow carrier things, but how do you mount those Nanuk cases to it? When you order the mounts does it come with a bracket that you can install on whatever bags you'd like? That was the impression I was under but can't tell from their site. Thanks!

Shad 58x Expandable with backrest Shad SH23 Top loading Side Cases Madstad 24” Windscreen - Medium Grey Anxious to take it on a trip! Everything comes off in seconds which I like. These three mods are awesome and some of the best looking luggage IMO. If you have questions about install or parts just ask.

I have the Shad touring luggage as well and its great stuff!!!
I've taken 2 tours this past year both were 2 day events and both were over 700 miles round trip.
Bike tours very well (not counting the limited fuel range)

Wow, these are $400 with the brackets. Looks like the way to go for side cases. The soft ones aren't much less, if not more with appropriate support brackets. Looks like they come in aluminum or plastic?

Looks like they come in aluminum or plastic? I got the top case, side cases, back rest, top bracket, and side case bracket for 1200 Canadian all taxes/fees in off motardinn.com. The side cases can hold a lot and I prefer the top loading feature as I store gas, tools, and extra clothing. Wanted something locking I could leave on the bike overnight on longer trips. I used to use soft bags but lugging all the tools and extra gas in the hotel every night was a pain.

If anyone from the US has been waiting, the SHAD 58x top case, top case bracket, and SH23 side cases :(but not the brackets) are available right now on revzilla. I've noticed that even if you sign up for email notifications, it doesn't alert you right away and the best method of finding out when new stock hits that I know of is to add the item to your wish list and check it every day. That's how I scored a comfort seat too lol oh and gdeg12 those bags look great on your bike!

I'm wanting a smaller top box mainly for my son to feel more secure when he rides with me. The stand alone back rest options I've found cost almost as much if not more than a top case. Any suggestions that aren't an arm and a leg?

gdeg12 (or anyone else with the following setup) can I ask what mounting system you are using for the SHAD SH23 Side Cases on your MT-10? I ordered them off of shadusa.com but then received an email from their customer support who not only said they were actually on backorder for 4 - 7 weeks, but also that the 3P System for mounting side cases is incompatible with the SH23's, at least for the MT-10. That's not consistent across their website and product pages, and I don't see any other way to mount them.

They just say they are incompatible because on the fz10 you can’t open the side cases without touching/scraping top case. I just installed the 58x top receiver a bit farther back on the top bracket (super easy drilled two holes). Gives enough clearance, and a bit more room for passenger. All in all, works great. Message me for instructions. They def work tho

Any suggestions that aren't an arm and a leg? I went with the shad 34 liter top case, bracket and backrest. Was about $300 shipped. This year I added the extra brake light to it for about $115. Edit: fixed to say I purchased 34 liter case. Looks decent since it isn’t huge and still holds a full face and then some. I’m not sure how to post pictures but pm me and I can email you some if you want.

SHAD customer service seems to be pretty bad, but it looks like they make up for it in their actual products. I'm impressed--so far--with the thoughtful engineering and build quality. I found a 3P system on eBay from Italy and yeah it all bolted up just fine. I didn't think to move the top case mounting plate back but tbh the scraping is so minor, and the SH23 side case lids are so flexible that it doesn't really bother me at this time. I heard something about the 23's needing a different plastic end piece that slides on the end of the 3P mounts to secure the cases to the mounts, but the cases themselves already shipped with them so it was no big deal. Great call on this setup, fits great and looks good on this bike.

I have been waiting to order a 2023 MT10, and I had intended to make it an extreme long-distance touring machine. Not anymore. Aside from one lightweight offering from Hepco and Becker, there aren't any significant hard case/top case offerings from any of the main aftermarket luggage makers, Givi, Shad, none of them make a 2022-2023 MT10 setup. And I have learned why that is... Yamaha has unbelievably REMOVED the four hard mounting points from the rear of the MT10 subframe! There are no longer points that mounting hardware can affix itself to! Here is a drawing of the 2016-2021 MT-10 subframe. The four red arrows point to substantial mounting lugs that are factory-welded into the frame: And here is the same rear subframe for the new-generation MT10... the mounting points are no longer present:
I am fairly pissed that Yamaha did this - I would have liked the newer bike with all the late-generation electronics. But it is far more important that I be able to legit-carry what I need in hard side cases, and I need a strong, beefy top rack because I intend to mount an auxiliary fuel cell there. I am turning my attention to a 2021 MT10 that is for sale and only has 1500 miles on it. If I manage to score it, that will be the starting platform for my new LD machine.

I wonder if it's because they relocated a ton of electronics due to making the air scoops functional and the side panel removal on the 2022's. The "air scoops" on the first gen hold relays and stuff and the LH side panel covers the ECU. All that stuff got moved now.

How did u manage to install SH23 on MT-10? I could not find 3P system under MT-10 that would be compatible with SH23 side cases, so I contacted the service team and they said the same. I managed to find your bike with SH23 cases on this forum.. I am really not a fan of SH35 or SH36 as these side cases are really bulky.. As for Hepco &Becker, the C-Bow side cases are really small, they are meant to be lightweight.

There may be threaded mounting holes underneath on the sub frame like the previous years, the factory Yamaha top rack mounts from underneath. You could then mount any topcase plate to that rack.
