So, after getting the midpipe installed with the stock silencer, I felt air coming from under the front of the silencer. I thought I had a leak, so I removed the can and re-adjusted the clamp and gasket. I still felt air, but then I noticed a small hole at the front lower area of the silencer. Is this normal? What does it do? Are they all like this? Is it drain hole for trapped water? image org

That's the anti-rotation feature fore the clamp.

My experience is that people won't be offended by the hunting, but might question the need for fire power. I recognize it as a really nice tool of the game.

I'm always ready to hunt. 95 lbs Oryx x Nice! That's an African beast. Is it not? I'm not a hunter because I suck at it and have no patience, but I have enjoyed many meals of African game at restaurants in Johannesburg SA.
What caliber is that man-cannon? I can't tell from the picture, but it appears to be more than the standard 30-06.
I once had a Winchester 44-40 lever action that was designed for knocking buffalo down, but the speed was old school slow. I suspect that thing in your picture carries much more muzzle velocity that my old boom stick.
PS. I want to know more about this hardware. Specs please.

Yes, African. But it's a Texotic. Texas is the only place you can hunt these in the world. They are endangered everywhere else. The species is basically breed and managed through hunting. It's saved the species. It's really amazing that I can really hunt all of Africa in TX. The rifle in that picture is a custom 1895 Chilean Oberndorf Mauser in 7mm Mauser (actually smaller than 30.06). The round is a hand loaded 120 gr Nosler BT. The jacket you see was all that was recovered. The bullet actually passed through the cow Oryx and killed her Oryx calf (collateral damage hidden behind her in the tall grass) with a head shot through the ears (a two'fer with one bullet). It's not the arrow but the Indian. Shot placement always trumps big bullet. The rifle was built by me as a subsonic hunting weapon. I use this exclusively for hogs, sheep and deer (or anything of that size) at a max distance of around 150 yds. It does the job and saves my hearing (what little is left). 8.2" 300 BLK w/ACC suppressor. Optics are 1x4 Trijicon w/Bobro QD mount. Barrel: Noveske Trigger: 3.5 lb Timmney Rail: Daniel Defense Hardware: Magpul Gas Block: Noveske Bolt Carrier: YM Match Rounds are hand loaded 300 BLK w/194gr Lehigh Defense subsonic expanding bullets running around 1080 fps out of the muzzle.
