How many miles did you put before you had to change the rear tire. Just curious how long will I get from it. Same question about the front tire too? On my last motorcycle, I've got 10 000 km on the rear before I had to change it with really slow and relax riding (It was a Harley).

I changed mine with 5500. I put a higher mileage tire on because I go highway 80 to and from work

Just over 3600 mi and about to need a new rear tire. Riding like a hoon and using as a daily kills the stock Bridgestone pretty quick.

What brand/Model/Type tires did you guys upgrade to? The side shop I usually go to tried to get me into Rossi III's or and MT branded tire for the rear. I've had the Rossi II's in the past on my ninja 300, and was severely disappointed in the tread life and grip as it aged. I may go with a Michellin Pilot series tire since the ones I had before lasted and had good grip. But we did have a thread discussing tires here, if you'd like to get a better perspective on what tires everyone is rolling with. |

I had to change the stock oem tires at 4,500 KMs (2,800 miles)...it was down to the metal cords.  I switched to Michelin Pilot Road 4 tires. |

I had PR4's before and they were awesome. I'm curious to seehow Dunlop's new Roadsmart 3's will compare because I heard those tires smashed PR4's in every category in testing. |

I put Pilot Road 2 on the back and will go with one for the front when it's worn. 80miles a day on the highway eats up the soft ones. It's still has pretty good grip for the street.

I am curious why you chose the PR2 instead of the 4, or even the 3. I have read reviews that say the newer ones wear better and have more grip, but I have no personal experience with them. |

From what I understand the 3 and 4 are better for wet. I don't ride much in the rain (Arizona) so I went with the 2 because it's a $100 cheaper. So the short answer is I'm cheap.

I'm coming up on 5500, have to get some new treads,excessive highway riding,straight line acceleration combined with my 260lbs have worn them rather quickly, wondering myself how often others have had to replace them. What tires can I get comparable grip with more longevity?

I rolled into the bike shop with exactly 3,000 mi on the stock rear, I probably could have gotten another 500 miles out of it but it had a small nail deeply imbedded midway between the center and edge, and it wouldn't pass the annual inspection. So it was changed to a Dunlop Roadsmart 3 which is a sport touring tire, I will give up a little bit of sticky performance for more miles. Everything is a compromise but I couldn't live with a 3,000 mile tire life.

Mine lasted about 5.5k as well, on the Bridgestones. I've had the stock S20rs, the new S21s, and also the Metzeler M7RRs on this bike. The M7rr and S21 are both so good, I can't really pick between them.
However, I can say without a doubt that I dislike the PR4. It might be nice as a wet weather tire, but the front tire cups, and isn't confidence inspiring at all mid corner. Especially when trail braking. They might last long, but that just means you'll enjoy putting another 4k miles on a squared tire with wonky dynamics.

I've beat up many tires on the track and then ran them on the street. The only problem is they just don't feel right anymore. I'm guessing the profile gets compromised

i am just about ready for a rear @ 3500. I am going S21 next time around, the S20 was a good tire and the S21 supposed to have 35% more longevity... whatever that means in real terms IDK.
