If you wanted to do a GP shift pattern with the Yamaha quick shifter on the FZ-10 wouldn’t you just need to flip the sensor or what ever it is on the shift rod upside down? Or am I off on how it works?

I just so happened to look into this the other day. The topic was covered in detail already here: fz10.org/thread/3215/run-stock-qs-gp-shiftI did not do it though, I'm staying with standard shift after talking to a racer buddy about my riding style.

The stock sensor is a pull type. To run GP shift, you need to switch to a push type. I’ve had that setup on my bike for 3 years. Works mint.

The stock sensor is a pull type. To run GP shift, you need to switch to a push type. That doesn't sound right to me. Our transmission lever needs to be pulled just the same with stock or GP-style shifting to upshift, so the sensor is the same for either 'style'. The only thing that changes is WHERE the rod is attached. Since it's after the pivot point stock, then it'd need to be moved before it, to reverse the shift lever direction; that's all. If you add clutchless downshifts, THEN you'd need a push type sensor. Or am I missing something?

I didn’t want to drill the shifter and mass with where the rod was mounted. The way I have always done GP shift is to flip the arm that mounts to the transmission splined shaft 180 degrees. Hence the need for the push sensor

Another option is to buy a used R1 shift pedal off eBay. Might be cheaper and easier than a new sensor. They have both holes for standard and GP shift, no need to drill. Mine has one on it. Pic with black rear sets are R1 rearsets, silver rearsets are OEM MT-10, so you can see the spacing on both. Previous owner used GP shift, to switch back and forth you just change the shift rod position by unbolting from one hole and bolting into the other hole.

Ok your pics are confusing me. The shift lever looks like everything is identical in both pics.
