Has anyone gotten the Kriega US (whatever size) bags for the FZ-10? I hear they have quality stuff, only thing im concerned about is how one would install the mounts for them. Not really keen on having straps to the passenger pegs or around the tail if it can be avoided..

I can speak for the quality of the bag but not the fitament on the FZ10. I really liked the Kreiga bag. Great quality and secure. Only complaint was it doesn't have any quick access. You basically have to loosen the bag from the bike and then unhook and unroll the open end. But this made the bag completely waterproof.
When I had the bag for my triumph D675, it had these straps that I wrapped around the subframe under the seat. The other end of the nylon strap was a loop you would leave hanging out from under the seat. So when you put the bag on, you would take the hook straps and attach them between the loops and the bag. I always felt it was pretty secure.

Yes, my problem is however where those straps would be fitted since as far as i can remember (bike is in storage atm) there is no clear subframe to attatch the straps to. Maybe screw them into the seat itself? Access isnt that big of a problem since I put things i need quick access to into my tankbag

I use a Kriega us20 om my MT10, you can loop around the sub frame and leave the straps in place, it is a bit fiddly to fit them but you only have to do it once and tuck them under the seat when not in use.

Unfortunately, I really doubt there's any bag out there you can strap under the seat. I've been always able to do that with an Ogio tailbag, but not on the FZ. I ended up buying an identical Ogio tailbag, and reluctantly mounted it thru the side panels in front (then under the seat), and under the seat at the rear, with all 4 straps connected to a central aluminum bracket. It's a snap to remove thanks to clips, and equally easy to mount, but unfortunately, no way to do it under the seat, like I wanted. The good news is nothing is visible unless you crouch and look under there. But the main reason I didn't want to do that is if I catch rain (which will eventually happen. Or even a puddle or something), all the straps will be filthy, and probably the bag too, since I just couldn't stand the abomination of rear fender Yamaha put on the FZ/MT-10s, so had to eliminate it with a Vagabond tail tidy. I'll never ride in rain on purpose, so hope it doesn't happen often. He he. If I were you, look for the best bag that fits, since you'll most likely have to fit it under the seat too. Good luck. Here's a pic of mine:

Here's a pic of mine: It looks to be a perfect fit for the FZs rear shape. Unless i can figure out how to get the straps to the subframe, i think ill just screw them into the bottom of the seat. Kind of like how the FZ-07 has its straps from factory.

My problem about water-proofing is that i got the Yamaha OEM licenceplate holder, and it leaves an (intentional) huge hole for cable routing under the tail. Need to figure out how to block that off to reduce the amount of gunk that will get kicked up from the tire into the "under seat compartment". Most likely ill just tape/glue a piece of pastic on the hole from the inside.

The other option for either that, or getting crap under the seat would be a longer 'hugger', following the curvature of the rear tire. Not that long that looks like a fender, but a few inches longer would look perfectly fine IMO. It wouldn't prevent getting the tailbag dirty, but at least the area under the seat would be spared. Problem is nobody makes one.
But going back to your concern, are you sure the stock tail would allow spray thru that 'hole'? Did you already experience that? If yes, then I'd feel better having eliminated it. Ha ha. At any rate, looks like only a full fender/hugger would eliminate all spray under the bike. At least the stock hugger prevents the shock and surrounding area from getting hit, which would complicate cleaning even more. Please post pics of what you intent to do. Since I've never seen an FZ-07, I don't quite understand what you want to do with the drilling. Also post which bag you end up with. Good luck.

Didnt maybe specify the licenceplate holder well enough. Its a tail tidy by yamaha, the one they sell on their website, but not factory. My bike is currently in storage, i will send a picture as soon as i get my new toys to screw on (both on the hole and on the bags ofcause, SW-Motech Blaze comming up, going to see if they would fit with the non stock licenceplate holder). Basically, if you look under your seat you can see where the wiring goes to the blinkers and stuff. That rectangular hole is completely open to the elements now. There comes a plate for that purpouse with the Yamaha tail tidy, but it only works if you put a long ass arm, making it look almost as bad as the stock fender. As for waterproofing the bags, thats why im getting waterproof bags. Anything non-waterproof will get soaked over here no matter how much you try to prevent it

At about 1:20 in
this is how the backside of the FZ-07 seat looks like. You see the strap he is holding and more straps tucked away on the left side on the picture. thinking of doing something similar. Maybe fitting the rear strap on one of the bolts of the locking mechanisms plate and the more front ones directly into the seat. Not sure how durable that would be though (on the seats plastic)

Oh, that explains it. He he. I have the Vagabond, and there're no holes in there at all. Hey, I couldn't find any such accessory on shopyamaha.com, so not sure what you got. A picture will shed light on who makes it for them . Maybe it was a dealer item, not Yamaha's. On the Blazes, that's exactly what I was waiting for: Somebody with a tail tidy. Hopefully yours is very similar to Vagabond's. And hopefully the bags clear the turn-signals, which I was very much doubting... unless the tube brackets are bent to push the bags out a little more at the rear. Maybe heating up the tubes, or forcing them out a little while mounted. Hope to hear from you soon . By the way, the turn signals on my Vagabond tail-tidy are exactly 14.5" apart at their widest points. Could you measure yours, please??? And they're basically located below the rearmost 2 shiny hex bolts holding the plastic piece next to the seat. The most forward end (black plastic) of the turn-signals are at the most-forward end of the bolts. Hope I'm making sense. He he. Hope the bags fit without any modifications. Take care. As a side note, there's a cavity under the stock seat to store something small. A strap similar to the battery one was supplied inside the tool kit. I missed it until somebody pointed that out on another thread, so wanted to pass on the favor. He he. I put my flat tire repair kit there. And could fit in the nooks and crannies under the seat a multi-tool, OBD-II adapter, an OBD-II code reader, a booklet with all codes (all of that inside ziploc bags), gloves, a rag, and 4 large CO2 canisters. The only 'tool' I had to put inside my tailbag is a bicycle pump.

A shame since its a solid, straight forward (except for the FZ-10 apparently if you want your electronics to stay dry) and good looking holder, once you take that horrible bionic arm piece in the middle off ofcause. The plate bit attaches to the base with conveniently placed extra holes that totally just happen to be there (nowhere does it say that it can be fitted this way, but its obviously meant to be fitted this way ) My turn signals sit ~1/2 inch behind the brake light, so what im going for is seeing if the bags fit infront of them. Maybe chop the bars down a little. Got a good deal with the dealer, if it clearly wont fit whatsoever, i can return it (in factory condition ofcause) to them and get my money back. Ill let you know once i get them 👍

This is how the tail tidy looks just to get an idea. It sits very far back. You might eyeball a little how it compares to your vagabound. Sorry dont have any better pictures right now.

Havent heard of these in the US market. My turn signals sit ~1/2 inch behind the brake light Oh man; thought you'd be able to provide answers to us tail tidy owners. Oh well. That part is a stock replacement, not a tail tidy; therefore, you shouldn't have any issues with the Blaze bags IMO. Your turn-signals are almost as far back as stock IMO, and a good 5" further back than my tail tidy. Plus your turn-signals are different than ours, and seem slimmer, so even less of an issue. I need somebody with a true tail tidy to get those bags, to know if they fit, or can be made fit, or not. I'm not willing to change anything on the bike, so won't take the gamble of ordering them. If I need bags before somebody posts, I'd probably just buy Motech's 50L integrated tail/saddle bag, and be done with it. Thank you for posting that info. You should post your results to help your fellow European brothers . Good luck.

I assembled it without the long arm seen in the pictures, so the plate sits right below the brakelight as do the indicators. They are also not stock, as you could tell, maybe an inch or so "narrower" than stock. Ill make sure to do some clearance measurements around your described position anyways, see how much it can be altered. Got a picture to show the way i assembled the licenceplate holder

The cheap tail tidy I got from ebay in the uk for £25 fits on the bottom of the standard tail tidy arm which means it retains the key cover and cable tunking. Good value for the money I think. I think it is the same as the S-Moto one.
