Yep, same here. I'd either wait for a new motor (if no other option), but in the mean time, raise big time hell to get a new bike instead. Problem is that would for sure involve $$$; the question is how much more, since even buyback deals include a mileage fee, plus some depreciation if you have to get a newer one, no? What a drag; that's for sure.

LEGAL time. I hate to deal with lawyers but Yamaha and the dealer will jerk you around from now to doomsday. I would never, NEVER, trust a local shop to rebuild an engine like this and be comfortable that it is up to spec. Either they provide a new crate engine, or they can buy the bike back. Play hardball, do not let them jerk you around.

Anyone know the right place, division etc... to call at Yamaha?

I'd personally leave lawyers out unless it's the absolute last resort, for 3 reasons: First, there's no lemon law on motorcycles. Second, we're talking about a $13K motorcycle, which might be exceeded in a legal battle, with no assurance you'd get it back. And third, you'd be without a motorcycle (unless you have others) for months, if not years. Therefore, I'd first try to settle the matter with corporate Yamaha, with either a buyback (my first choice), or at least a generous trade-in for a 2019 (if desired), if you still want an MT-10. Either of those would put you on another motorcycle way quicker and cheaper than threatening with legal action right off the bat. Best of luck, and please keep us posted.

OP, any update on your blown motor? It's been about a month, hopefully you are seeing some action on getting the bike back on the road.

Hello there. Right now im sitting on the rest place far away from home due my 4 month old yamaha MT10 SP motor blow. I was driving on the highway with speed around 100mph. In one moment, the engine power went dramatically down, then after second again up and 3 seconds after somerhing blow up. Steel-like sound from engine and engine oil goes out. When slowing down, there was massive vibrations. After i stopped near highway, i saw just smoke and oil everywhere on street. The engine worked untill this accident like charm, no troubles, the blow comes from nothing! Only 2650 km total on ODO...
