Earlier I posted a link to a website for aftermarket parts trying to add a place that you could buy parts from that is located in Japan! Anyway to make a long story short the thread was locked by a moderator saying that I was shady and probably related to the company! My question is How so? I was just trying to help others out and I have been here longer than said Moderator! Am I mad? No I am not but if this is the way this forum treats members than who really wants to be a member of something like that? I can go to youtube and be a member of sites related to Discord and talk and share things Including websites to help other fellow members out why am I even wasting my time on this ancient technology website! I am sure I will get blocked for this but really who cares at this point like I said I was just trying to help. Sounds to me like said moderator is affiliated with websites on here that only want you to spend money on those said websites! Yeah that’s messed up. You were just giving all of us more options to mod out our FZ/MT. |

Instead of making a whole thread about it, why not just PM the mod that closed it and discuss in private?

Honestly I feel like the guy was pretty asinine by saying that! Only by helping others out could this ever be a great place for all seems like he basically singled me out and didn't even look to see any of my other posts where I have tried uploading things to help others out and just went ahead with out any further knowledge and blocked the post! Thank you for being polite to me he was not. let me ask you why didn't he PM Me and ask about anything before hand?

Instead of making a whole thread about it, why not just PM the mod that closed it and discuss in private? Because it's important for all of us to know what is and isn't acceptable here. I saw the original link and it is one I've used several times to order parts not available in the USA, it's a good source, very reliable. Calling the post 'shady' really seems out of line. Maybe it's a poor choice of words by the moderator, maybe not. But let's find out what the real issue is here. Mod says it was posted in the wrong place, fair enough, but they often move the post to the proper place when it is started under the wrong sub-heading (that's part of the job as a moderator), so why that was not done here is a legitimate question. When a post is locked it is usually pretty clear why it was done, but this lock seemed unreasonable. |

I think we all know unpaid advertising isn't allowed on internet forums. The mod seemed to think that's what OP was doing. OP says that was not his intent. Seems pretty cut and dry to me. So again, this is something that could of been discussed in PM's I am not a mod on this board, and I'm not the mod who made this decision. |

^^^ Nope, unpaid advertising is not the reason it would seem. The section YAMAHA MT-10 PARTS & ACCESSORIES LINKS AND REVIEWS....says "Install a new part on your FZ-10? Tell us about it! Must post link where you ordered so others can too."
OP.....I would suggest posting your link under that section as it seems to be ok, and welcomed, to do so. Still not sure why you are being called shady by the mod for the faux pas of posting it in the wrong place.

So I ordered a Helmet lock mount from the website and saw that there were parts on there that I had never seen before and just wanted to make note of it for others look at my other posts they are mainly helpful posts not "shady" articles the mod should have at least done a little research first before criticizing and then if he still felt I was wrong sure Ill take the hit on that and would have apologized and rewrote the post up! That was not the case the owner of this website should be more careful picking and choosing who he adds as a mod here! We are all riders here and should benefit from one to another and help each other out nothing more nothing less! One note I did get a message from another mod who was very polite and un accusing so its not every moderator here! |

The moderators here are all pretty straight arrows in my experience, maybe you just hit him at the wrong time.
I ordered a helmet lock from them, too, stuff you won't find in the USA at all. I did a thread on it a while back and I put the link to the website in it.

yea that's the one I got too Its better than just leaving my helmet sitting on top of the seat! At work I would have to take it through a checkpoint and have nowhere to put it for 12 hours so glad I found it! I would assume maybe they have been getting a lot of spam or something so I can see why no biggie its in the past and forgotten!

Just an update, Mike and I spoke over PM and cleared it up. It's all good. We've gotten a decent amount of spam on this board and most probably don't see it because usually we just delete the posts but this time I locked it since usually the spammers are new members and Mike has a decent post couny. My take on it was that even if it was a legit post, it was a general link to just a parts website, not to MT/FZ 10 parts. So it came off as spammy.
We spoke about it like adults and it's all good. I appreciate him reaching out to me and I probably should've PMed him instead but I just didn't put much thought about it.
Back to your regularly scheduled programming....

The moderators do a good job of deleting spam, often before you guys even see it. In this case , one of them thought this was spam.
