Is there another fz or mt forum? I feel like this one is dead. Nothing really goes on. Is it the bike? Is it not popular? Wasnt the forum gonna migrate or something? Not trying to throw shade, I've just been on a lot of other forums and they have all been much more "alive"

I think the bike is new and less popular in the us so it doesn't have many riders, and most topics of interest have been covered.
There's also not as robust an aftermarket, so the same mods are discussed ad nauseum. I have noticed a few really solid and creative builds, yours included, but a good # of those users have sold their MT already.
There is a decent repository of bike specific tech tips and there are some genuinely helpful users, so I hope the population continues to grow.

I think a lot of motorcycle model specific forums are slower in general, as well as the FZ10 only being out for what, just over 2 years? It'll take some time to grow. And there is the fact that it is now called MT-10 world wide so there's that

A forum is only as lively as the number of members who participate. A lot of people lurk around, get whatever info or entertainment they are looking for but don't post, or post very rarely. I have no idea how many 'eyeballs' are actually on this site but participation is pretty low from what I can see. If you look at the number of registered members (about 1,300) and the distribution of who's posting you'll see only about 25 members have at least 100 posts, about 200 members have posted only ONCE, and about 550 have NEVER posted. Ergo, the forum appears slow or dead. If members would start posting things would turn around.
Another factor is it's summertime and people tend to go on vacation and just be involved in outdoor activities, which includes m/c riding! Another factor is the general condition of the m/c market, it is slow and suffering with fewer brand new bikes like the FZ/MT-10 being sold. The -10 isn't exactly flying out of the showrooms due to an often polarizing look and relatively high price. This all weighs on the bike forum traffic.

It's not only this forum. There are others even much slower out there. Maybe we should look at the positive end. Our bikes in general have very few issues that would result in people posting. Any forum is like the emergency room at the hospital so you get all the complaints and problems. One reason why the Can Am Spyder forums are so busy

I want to think Dave's point is exactly the reason for the low posting, which is GREAT news. I haven't even bought the bike yet, but have posted more than the great majority of registered members. I also like to stay active once I buy the bike, helping others, like the most frequent posters do here . I basically just have one new option left, and it's local. They're only off $400 from my very reasonable offer, but since I'm in the middle of moving, haven't been more aggressive, since I don't have where to put the bike now. He he. But hope that's resolved by the end of the week. Have been watching the used market, and there's very little activity, with prices mostly higher than reality. The good news is that the bike seems to be liked, but many owners are also selling with few miles, and I'd like to know why. He he. Don't want to be one of those due to vibrations that put your hands to sleep easily. I'll still do what I've done to all my previous bikes from the last 10 years, which is to install grip-puppies, and check/tighten the engine bolts to spec, to minimize vibrations. But if QC is not tight, some engines can be a lot more vibey than others, which I hope is not the case with the sophisticated FZ-10. I rarely consider buying a first-year model, but the FZ-10 seems to have been built right, since the issues are minimal, with the only recall I found being on the sidestand switch. I'd just buy the OEM quick-shifter to basically make it a 2018, and also the comfort seat and afforementioned grip puppies. Everything else would be cosmetic, including a Graves slip-on, sliders, etc.

I read for entertainment on here. Every question I've asked has been answered. If I come across a question that hasn't already been answered then I chime in. I've not had any issues with my FZ so no need to ask questions. The only question I have currently is already covered in a thread so no need to duplicate it.

I think forums are dying in general. It's all about things like Discord these days.
Wasn't this forum meant to be getting a makeover though?

Iām usually on here once a day to see if anything new has popped up. Usually just to see if there is any new diy things that people post. Not a lot of anything new has came up in a while though š¤·š½āāļø I love the bike and have done quite a bit of what everyone else has here though.

One thing I value in a "slow" forum, is the content and members tend to be more helpful and cordial. Maybe it's the type of owner the FZ-10 attracts, but really, there hasn't been too much noise going on since I've registered here. The ones who stick around are here because they care about the bike's community to a degree and aren't just registering, post-whoring to hit the minimum required post count, and then trying to sell of whatever crap they want to unload in the classifieds before disappearing.
I think a lot of forums are slowing down and dying out because of social media. The corresponding Facebook group for this forum seems fairly active - I see people posting on it pretty much daily. I'll reply to posts sometimes, myself. I used to frequent the 600RR.com forums and noticed how dead their forums are compared to a few years ago. My local riding group has a corresponding Facebook group with hundreds of members (and more regular postings though none of it is any good, IMHO) but our forum is pretty stagnant - just the same 15 or so guys keeping it going but we're older and we like the format vs. a free-for-all Facebook group page. I think our riding group's forum is probably going to die off this year if not next year.
Unfortunately, it seems like when someone posts for help or recommendations to the FZ-10 Facebook group it tends to be the same 3 or 4 questions - all of which are covered ad nauseam in some cases on this forum. Personally, I still prefer the forum format because of how useful, accessible, and organized the information can be. I like being able to bookmark a thread for when I need to refer to it. Plus, I value my online anonymity; I can still be social and interactive while not having to divulge all that much personal info in doing so.

Being from Australia we don't seem to have the numbers to generate our own MT 10 forum so we join either Europe or the USA forums or both. I originally joined a UK forum as the bikes in OZ were badged the same as those in Europe, i.e. MT's. The original UK forum was full of invaluable information for me as a new owner and there was great banter between forum members, however the moderator of the site went MIA and the forum went down the spout, along with all the info. I've since joined this forum and the new UK forum but traffic on both sites is minimal, so it is not only this site that is showing signs of slow traffic. I have put this down to a few things,
1) (and this is a good thing) compared to the competition, the FZ/MT10 cross plane motor is bullet proof and therefore vey few posts about things f**king up. 2) There are only so many mods that can be done to this bike which have mainly been covered. (some to death) 3) And I'm guilty of this, there e are a lot of members viewing and few posting.
I for one wouldn't mind seeing a few more posts on "what have you done to your FZ10 today" or maybe " what sphincter clenching moments have you had this week" ?
Cheers Jim

One additional benefit of accountability (that you touched on) is there are fewer trolls and fewer argumentative threads to parse through. We all know quantity != quality, and a ton of low content troll threads and flame wars aren't preferable to a few occasional high-quality contributions. High traffic forums can even make the good content more difficult to find. I think stoltec's build thread covered some of the most innovative performance mods that can be done for the bike, and that was one of the earliest builds on the forum. I'm interested in sticking around to see if any other watershed concepts are discovered.

All we're really missing (unless I'm missing it) is the 82-page "which oil to use?" thread.

I think the forum just needs time to grow. I'm sure the FZ10A forum didn't happen overnight. I'll do my best to post things that are relevant, informative and exciting. Later Fizzers
