I've seen a little bit of a downturn on the ammount of posts but we have definitely been growing as a forum. The ammount of new members is definitely way more than when I first joined.
I think it's like what a lot of people said. Facebook is probably the main reason. I'm on the Facebook page and there's the same damn questions getting asked over and over again that are answered here. Yet there's always an army of people who will reply. So it feeds into this lazy, immediate need for an answer that doesn't require much research.
But don't lose faith. There will always be a loyal following and as our bike continues to be sold and evolve, the forum can really only expand. And as I've said before, we have a very good group of people on this forum and I think Rob, the forum admin, has let the forum run itself and as mods, we've kept it fairly drama free. I'm on another forum right now that's seemingly just a place for people to blow off steam for people who live unhappy lives, where I feel there's this group of members who just chastise new members or really anybody who posts up something that differs from their views. It really takes away from the forum and I don't feel the need to partipate much. Here is different, everybody is always cool. Everybody always willing to help.

Don't know if someone has mentioned it but there is usually daily activity on the FZ10 Facebook group. Guess it seems to be more convenient for folks.

Is there another fz or mt forum? I feel like this one is dead. Nothing really goes on. Is it the bike? Is it not popular? Wasnt the forum gonna migrate or something? Not trying to throw shade, I've just been on a lot of other forums and they have all been much more "alive" Kisses One thing I make sure to do is reply to any post on a thread I started with an answer or just a thanks for the comment. Members take the time to write something on a thread and appreciate some kind of response from the OP...just saying it's courteous.
This forum is relatively new and so is the model. I'm not giving up on this forum and running to Facebook. I'm excited about the Gen3 FZ10 bad boy I bought and all the additional mods I'll be doing to make it even better. The forum has a ways to go, but it's off to a good start. I'm hoping more of the old farts from FZ1OA buy a FZ10 like I did...and bring all the knowledge and wisdom with them to this forum. I'm sure we have a few on here already. I'm one of them, but I'm lacking in the mechanical, engineering or machining skills department. The Gen2 model was out for almost 10 years...good forum for this model. Let's keep on posting and replying to make it better. I counting on more people buying this bike and making it do what they like doing best...touring, back road carving, track work...all of the above.
Later Fizzers...let keep it up.

Crap, I've been using Crisco. Explains why my exhaust fumes smell like french fries. I've been using 100w200 hash oil, it's expensive but it makes the cops behind me more mellow when they pull me over. Sounds good, might have to try that 😁😁😁

This forum has way more links/sections of different interest etc. Let's build this forum up to it's full potential. Hopefully the model stays around a good long time. I wish they would keep the FZ name alive. It's been FZ since 2001...for the sport touring line. The FZ name has been around since the 80's.
Later...

All we're really missing (unless I'm missing it) is the 82-page "which oil to use?" thread. Bwahahahaha, you win. That question always kills me. Right along with "what's the best exhaust?"

Kind of funny thing, until today I didnt know there were like, 25 replies, I must not have subscribed to my own post, ha. Anyway, I think there have been a lot of good replies here. The idea that there are less trolls is actually super awesome. Years ago I was involved in a freeway accident and asked on local forums for any eye witnesses and I got BLASTED by trolls. The gixxer boards are for trolling only I think. Any tech posts actually get deleted I also like that the bike is very bulletproof. I have 2 ideas up my sleeve I will be trying soon, they will be fun. Thanks for all the feedback! I just met up with a forum member this AM, we should plan a San Diego/Orange county FZ riders........ride.

Later... I agree 💯 %. Just pointing out the convenience factor of fb. Seems like every time I get on fb, I have notifications from the FZ10 group and there's that.. but as you stated, as I agree, long live the FZ forum and the FZ heritage. I was the proud owner of a 2007 FZ1 raven that I should have never sold even though I wouldn't trade my current FZ10 raven for 3 of them now 😂

I'm happy to hear you and many on here are totally in love with the new Gen3 FZ/MT(Please Yamaha Just Call Them FZ ). I'm also becoming fast friends with my black 17' FZ10, but this sucker below flat out rips. I'm keeping it and building my new FZ10 to be much better than my 09'FZ1. Later

I came from a 2009 FZ1 with the Retro bodywork. Loved the bike but when I test rode the FZ-10 there was no going back. And I only have room for one bike in the garage (physically) so the FZ1 had to go. The dealer I sold it to had it in his inventory for almost a year even though it was in perfect condition and priced right. You never know.

I'm not into the social media crap, especially f**kbook. Yes, I might be old (56), but that's not it. I'm not the kind who craves for attention, so I'd never post anything public on those stupid sites anyway. Texting and internet on the phone is more than enough for me. So MUCH rather use a forum like this one than social media, but to each his own .

Not trying to throw shade, I've just been on a lot of other forums and they have all been much more "alive" Kisses Facebook. So many FZ10 riders just post the same questions over and over on facebook groups. Its only one page, so the answers all get bried in the bottom, out of site. Its like hamsters running on a wheel, but they dont notice, they just keep posting the same stuff on facebook groups. I admin the large fz10 facebook group and laugh daily. The same "how do I wheelie" "whats the best exhaust" "who make the best windscreen" questions get asked every single week, all year long. I stopped answering their tech questions months ago. There are a large % of people who just dont leave Facebook. Technology used to excite me about the future of our planet. I figured by now everyone would be building their own forums and websites and we would use an bridge app to connect them all. But nope. Turns out these generations are just lazy. They just hang on Facebook all day, lol To each their own. My FZ-07 and FJ-09 websites are busy. But something about FZ-10 owners keeps them on Facebook. I don't get it either. So, just keep posting. Sooner or later people will figure out that well written tech tips, vendor discounts and useful info are easily found on this forum, not on Facebook. And please, when working on your bike, take a minute, take a few pics along the way and post a tech tip in our tech tip section. It will be seen on google seach when other MT-10 owners search the internet on how to do what you are doing. People learn from forum tech tips 10 years after they are written. Be a star!

Daily same ole same ole questions that were answered 100 times before, but they are lost and buried in the bottom of facebook hell, lol.

But please be honest, what oil should I run in my exhaust while I wheelie?

But please be honest, what oil should I run in my exhaust while I wheelie? Well, I suggest extra virgin olive oil.

I don't do any social media, none, and have no need to. I do what I need to do on the internet, either on a desktop, laptop or my Kindle. I had to take the car in today for a recall situation and everyone in the waiting lounge, except one woman, was playing on their phones. Went to lunch and same thing, everyone playing with their phone. And believe it or not I flew into Austin last month about midnight, stopped in the men's room to tap a kidney and there were two guys standing at the urinals flicking through stuff on their phones. They can't even stop long enough to take a leak. Sad.
The tech editor over at the Wall Street Journal was covering Apple's new phones today and she opined that she is hopelessly hooked, she knows she spends way too much time on the devices but she can't seem to change it. Her own mother says the phone is her daughter's best friend. It's up to everyone to take control of their lives and not let technology rule their lives.
When I ride I have no naviagation aids (except a paper map in the tank bag), no tunes, no electronic distractions. My phone is turned off and is only there if I break down or have an accident which has never happened. The whole idea of riding for me is to do something most people don't do, you have to rely on your skills to maintain control of a powerful two wheeled device. I really don't want outside distractions taking the edge off that task and the fun I'm having when I'm charging up hills and down dales.
