I picked up some Carlsberg beer, a cover from eBay, cut my self twice but ended up satisfied (I’m not anal for some hair or roughness on the dark side of black plastic covering one of the most dirty areas of my bike).. left the last one un-cut since it’s hidden behind the QS anyway.. I may or may not do some extra finish on it but I doubt it..

Yes I can.. but let’s do the math.... 1. (Positive) It’s located at the sharpest turn for the chain behind the QS (where it throws most dirt). 2. (Positive) I’m sure I and most others won’t see it behind the QS (which is clean and not full of chain lube, see #1). 3. (Negative) I haven’t completed the “naked sprocket task”...
I get it to 2 vs 1 (and I haven’t even counted laziness) 😁

and you’re welcomed .. that’s part of the forum fun.... let’s see if I keep it un-complete (better function) or I do complete it (better looks).. I really can’t decide, that’s why I posted it to see the reaction I could trigger..

I use this chain lube. Works so awesome! Wheels and everything stays so clean.

Ordered one of the 4 remaining eBay covers (the best one. Ha ha), so there're only 3 left. Need to order the deburring tools from Amazon, to try to do a factory looking job. Will post results when I'm done. And yes, will do it the right (HeathHudnall) way . With the Tirox synthetic chain lube, not worried about an oily mess, but I doubt there is any in that area to begin with (I'll find out when I remove the cover, and report back). I'm only curious if rain makes an extra mess or not with those holes. Does anybody know? Looking forward to the challenge to make that job perfect . Have a good one.

Damn, that plastic cover is seriously beefy. Couldn't even pierce thru it with my Stanley Box cutter, so don't understand how the heck you guys did it with only the thinner Stanley blade; I'd be afraid it breaks off on my face. Ha ha. Anyway, this project is going to be a lot harder than I thought. Had to first punch a bunch of dimples on the largest opening, then drill every one of them. Finally was able to remove the piece, but even with my super coarse large file, I'm having a hard time eroding that damn hard plastic. Tried with the Dremel but it only melts the plastic (too fast). Anyway, I'm nowhere near done with just one freaking edge, but will finish it to see if I can do it to my expectations, to see if it's worth continuing the project or not. The deburring tool I bought was absolutely useless, so will have to finish it with the jewelry needle file set I also bought, which seems to work for finishing the job, but would take forever in the areas (a lot) the large file can't fit. The good news is a cousin from Miami who likes working on tedious $hit like that offered to finish it off for me for free, so I might take his offer. Ha ha. We'll see. Have a great weekend.

The deburring tool I bought was absolutely useless, so will have to finish it with the jewelry needle file set I also bought, which seems to work, and finish it off with 1000-grit sand paper, and maybe with a blackening product (for bumpers), since sanded plastic usually stays grayish, not black. The good news is a cousin from Miami who likes working on tedious $hit like that offered to finish it off for me for free, so I might take his offer. Ha ha. We'll see. Have a great weekend. Good luck.

No pressure - we’re just expecting factory finish... says the lazy Swede who has yet to complete the last section. 😁

That plastic is thick but as soon as the Stanley knife starts to cut through it goes well with constant pressure. I will add though, that before I started I drilled the corners of all the shaped sections so I didn't have to try and be too anal when radiusing the corners. I think I used an 8mm drill in my battery drill after putting a small pilot drill through.
