Hello All, New FZ10 owner. I'll be around for a long while I think. lol. Traded in an 07 SuperDuke on the FZ, some may have seen this bike on youtube before actually(Joego101 was the previous owner). Got a decent price on it from Coleman, 3700 miles, now 4300. Has the exup removal, decat, a few odds and ends here and there. What a bike, seriously the most impressive machine I have ever ridden. Just amazing, and I know I am preaching to the quire. Oh, curious about one thing....anyone have shifting issues? I've owned alot of of bike and worked in the industry for a long time, never felt a bike that needed so much pedal pressure..And here are some pics, also some of my track bike that used to be my daily driver.

Yeah, the shifting on it is somewhat clunky. I mainly have problems going from 2nd to 3rd. Often have to hit it again because it doesn't make the shift. I think it's probably got something to do with the 2nd gear detent? With the quickshifter though, no such issues. I'm going to talk to a friend of mine here in CA & see if he can come up with a fix. His company, Factory Pro Tuning, already makes some kits for other bikes. Who knows, maybe he's already got one?😉

Sorry missed your response manic, just installed a GYTR QS, but realized now I can't easily retain reverse shifting wth said QS'er. Leaning towards tapping the shift lever but we'll see how it turns out affecting the throw as I dont have much room to drill making the attachment point very close to the pivot point.

Welcome to the forum roninser Congrats on the purchase! Hopefully Coleman didn't rake you through the coals with all their various fees I was having trouble with missed shifts too and it was because the shift throw is longer than my other bike (FZ1). So I came up with this; fz10.org/thread/923/shorten-shifter-throw-driven-rearsetsI don't know how it would work with a QS though. I've got a touch over 7K on the bike now and the shifting has gotten smoother with miles. And I'm in Haymarket, how about you? I ride in western VA often (the good roads between 50, 55, and 7), and head out towards GWNF/Wardensville area about once a month.

I love what you did and it brought some thought to what I eventually did. Long story short, to use the QS and retain reverse shifting I drilled and tapped a hole on the other side of the shifter. Helped immensely, and the QS seemed to really smooth shifting out alot! I have been playing with the whole setup a bit, getting a good position while at the same time trying to retain the optimum angles to let the armature have the best and most efficient angle. These are reasons why engineers make good money and I'm not an engineer..lol. Thanks though for the input, your thread again was helpful, and I applaud your ingenuity. I'd do the same as you did but I really want that reverse pattern. I'm actually in Harpers Ferry, but commute to McLean area for work daily. Racked up about 2500 on the bike in the last 3 weeks. Due to life consuming my time I havent had her out on a good street ride, a few short jaunts by myself. I tend to stick to the area around the panhandle and venture out to Mt.Weather area sometimes myself. GWNF would be awesome, just wish she wasnt so damn thirsty all the time! lol. Headed to NJ with the trackbike this weekend:)
