400 miles and the rear break is squeaking and when I release the rear brake I hear a heavy click sound. Any ideas or thoughts?

Take pads out and put them back in. (Easy to do see tech tip section for instructions)

Take pads out and put them back in. (Easy to do see tech tip section for instructions) When you take them out, check the pads to see if you have glazed any of the pads over with excessive braking. If any of the pads are glazed, you can sand em down carefully but its better to just replace them. Also, the squeaking could come from dust or particles being on the pads. HAs it been doing it for a while?

All most all of my slowing is engine breaking and using brakes the last 10 to 0 mph to stop. It has been doing it for the last 100 miles I would say and only under 10mph to stop then when I release the rear brake there is a clear soft "thunk" sound.

Then I would have to guess dirt is the culprit. Hose it all off real good. if that doesnt do it then stop by the dealer and have em take allok and then let us know.

I'm willing to bet a rock got stuck in there and caused havoc on the rotor.

I would agree if it was a gouge but I do not believe a rock would cause a raised line without deforming the sides of the raised shown. That is my guesstamation anyway. lol The "milling defect from factory" was said by the dealership so I have no clue to be honest. Now we have to wait and see if Yamaha will fix it.
