Hey guys, only had my bike for a week, but I'm loving everything about it so far.
I've noticed, whenever the key is on, the servo for the exup valve is constantly making noise. I just want to confirm if that's normal because it seems kinda weird.
I bought the bike slightly used with about 1200 miles, so maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I figured I'd check just in case!
Thanks!

When you turn the key to on, before you start the bike, the fuel pump will prime and the throttle butterflies and EXUP valve will go through their full range of motion. The whole process takes about 2 seconds. It should be quiet after that, until you start the bike. You can also decat the bike and get rid of the whole thing

Yeah, I'm familiar with fuel pump prime noise and all that. This is totally different and I pulled off the seat and it's definitely coming from the exup servo. It doesn't appear to stop though. It makes the noise as long as the key is on.
Ha, eventually I'll get a link pipe and scrap the whole thing. For now I just want to make sure it's all working properly. Perhaps the cables need to be adjusted. The previous owner could have had a full exhaust on the bike and put it back to stock or something.

Hi... a friend of mine has the same problem as yours... without start the engine the exup motor makes noise and don't stop. He must turn off the key. What did you do to fix it? Thanks....

Installed a link pipe and eliminated the servo altogether. The sounds may be normal. I'm really not sure.

It's normal. Servo is a box containing a motor and gears that rotate an output shaft. If you've ever played with servos before you'd have witnessed what I'm about to describe on say a r/c car's steering servo. The best way I can describe it is a servo is constantly trying to achieve a certain position that it has been assigned by ecu or controller. Usually when a servo achieves the position and there are no forces trying to change its position, it will be quiet. Now note that the exhaust valve is held in a resting position by a spring, so when the servo reaches its designated position for start sequence it is still having to overcome the force of the spring, hence the faint buzzing or electrical whine noise. I've heard of throttle bodies do the same, but most are quieter because they're buried under the tank or are higher quality/more precise. Don't sweat it, just ride.

You are wrong! You need to adjust the wire. On the middle of the wire there is a thumbscrew to adjust the length. Do that untill it stops trembling when the ignition is on.

Hi guys, I am digging up the subject but I have just had the pb and I have just realized that the mechanic had reversed the two cables which go to the valve (it was open in the rest position, therefore in constraint with the spring, therefore the noise). After reconnecting the 2 cables in the right direction, my servo motor no longer makes noise. Enjoy!
