Never actually checked mine but it seems to be within reason when riding among other vehicles. 10 km/h (6 mph) error is not unheard of on bikes although I would like to see the actual speeds a bit closer to reality.

talked to my dealership about it and they told me that the way it is, Yamaha does that. kind of pisses me off because if i go to resell the bike down the road the mileage is higher than it actually should be. So it is Yamaha themselves bringing down my resale value...

What speed is that error at? Usually it wouldn't be that far off until you were in the triple digits, and that much error at that speed is common to most motorcycles.

If there is a large enough difference in miles, there will probably be a class action suit to extend the warranty. Honda had to do that a few years ago on Pilots. MrHix

Usually the odometer is reasonably accurate and its accuracy isn't linked to the speedometers accuracy. Odometers are usually within 1 or 2% which is acceptable as the accuracy will vary depending on tire wear and speed (change in tires circumference). I prefer more accuracy in the odometer than the speedometer.
