So this morning i hop on my FZ10 and hit the freeway this morning and notice when up shifting through the gears my lever is not selecting the gear. I have to press up a couple times to get it in gear. The bike has only a thousand miles. When i got to work and was in the parking lot and while sitting on the bike and holding the clutch lever in i started shifting through the gears and they were not catching properly. Just wondering if my gear lever needs adjustment or what. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

I noticed mine doesn't like to shift right when the tension is off a bit. Other than that maybe the clutch adjustment. If you can't figure it out take it back to the dealer.

Check the shift rod on the left side, it is possible one of the jam nuts has loosened up on the shift rod which would make precision shifting harder. It probably is not the problem but you want to eliminate the simple things first before heading back to the dealer. Also check the slack in your clutch cable, it may be a bit out of adjustment. I suspect there is not any issue with the transmission itself but probably in the mechanisms that interact with the transmission (clutch lever and cable, shifting rod).

I have had the same problem with my bike since new. But only from second to third? Never has a problem if using the auto shifter. I've got about 5k miles on her now.
