If you don't mind, what was the price range the dealerships where offering. Not that I'm interested in trading mine in, just would like to know what they claim fair value is in you area. From experience, I know new car dealerships go off of either regional/national auction pricing and Black book (not Kelly's Blue Book = waaayy off).

The jerk dealership offered $8000 and refused to discuss any other offer. The better dealership offer $8500 and asked me how that sounded. I said I needed $10k with the Penske shock. They said the Penske really added no value with trade in and said they would give me $9500 with the factory shock. I said I could do that, but didn't want to repeat my 2 hour round trip to change out the shock. I had the factory shock with me and they said we'll swap it out right now for no charge. I said okay and they gave me a new XRT with heated seat and grips to blast around the area on while they did the work. Much nicer than the other guys.
Brand new FZ-10s are going as low as $10,500 in some of the U.S. Dealerships on Cycletrader. In my area, they're down to $11,500. So, expect to be lowballed on the offer. And, there's nothing on KBB yet, because it's a 2017.

You always have to be wary on Cycletrader, often times the prices quoted are not the out-the-door price and they will want to add freight, setup, and other fees. Anyone shopping there always needs to confirm the OTD price so there will be no surprises when you rock up to the dealer with a fistful of cash.
I don't think the FZ-10 has hit its stride yet, dealers aren't exactly blowing them out the door. I believe the market is still weak, and $13,000 MSRP for a naked Yamaha is running into some resistance. The two FZ-10's my dealer has sold both went to buyers over 65. The tech at the shop (in his early 20's) really wanted one but the price and insurance cost was just too high so he settled for an FZ-07.

The problem when you're trading is that the lowball offer is not based on out the door costs, but listed pricing. I had this great, friendly conversation going with the dealer until he showed me the trade in offer. As soon as he indicated that was his final offer I just got up and walked out.
Agreed, a lot of buyers can't justify spending $13k on the -10. Funny how much they can afford on unnecessary mods though. The big reslity check comes when the dealership tells them their mods have no trade in value.

Never ever assume your mods are worth anything when selling a bike. If you even think you want to recoup any of that money you best hang on to all the stock parts to swap out if you sell the bike. Then you sell the mod parts to others still at a loss but less of a loss. LMAO!!
Always amazes me when a person list lets say a 2010 R6 with a bucket list of mods and thinks he can get 3 to 4K over what fair market value is on the bike. SILLY SILLY PEOPLE!!!! LOL

LOL Exactly right....mods are really worth nothing and in many cases can depress what a dealer/buyer will offer you. Many mods are done poorly, add no function, or sometimes make it less functional. I always consider mods as sunk money never to be seen again, they increase my enjoyment of how I value and use the product but realize that other people won't view them that way. I tend to buy new and hold for years but when I browse the bike shops and look at their used stock you see some of the damnest things that people do to their bikes, and not in a good way. Dealers will have an easier time selling a box stock bike than one modified.

Dealers are people too though and who you're dealing with could make a difference. When I traded my -09 in on the -10, they wanted the mods saying it would sell much quicker with them on the bike. You never know.

So today I bedded in the new HH rear brake and tested my new Madstad screen. Every bit as good as 800 forum members were saying. Smooth, quiet air at speeds up to 90 mph. I'm a happy guy. Hit more rough rodes I used to avoid and enjoyed the scenery. Today's pic:
