Just installed the BlasterX and it was very easy to do and program the right blinking pattern (for me). You have the option of leaving your turn signals to work as they normally would or plug the turn signal plugs into the BlasterX. I chose to leave the original turn signals working as normal just to help stay legal. Well worth the money because I rode the FZ10 at the Daytona Bike week and down back roads & noticed cars backing off when the brakes were applied. Really appreciate the added safety of the new tail light. Well worth the $148 dollars It's a great product.
Just FYI incase you didn't know, Iowa doesn't require signals on bikes. Also interesting to know the Iowa Code also doesn't not have requirements on exhaust decibel levels but you may still be subject to noise complaints from your neighbors. LOL I was thinking more like the other 49 states that I might travel through.

You can also wire your regular signals in line with the integrated ones for more effect This is the Blaster X.

I like the integrated signals but I'm not totally sure I want to remove my blinkers.

See the pic I posted above, 3 posts back. fz10.org/thread/778/smanzs-build-threadThis post in my build thread shows the y-connector I made to plug in the standard turn signals as well as the integrated ones on the Blaster X. You don't have to get this fancy. The basic point is to take the positive lead for the Blaster X turn signal and the positive lead for the standard signals, wire them together, and provide a ground for the circuit.

Thanks! I'm still learning the formats of this message board and didn't know there was a second page. Thanks for pointing me to your thread. It's both insightful and intimidating.

I just put the Blaster-X on my bike. Then I wired in a pair of Protons to replace the front turn signals. Lots of strobe-like flashing going on with my bike now. It's nice.

Dave How do you like the Protons? I heard they were not as bright as OEM? Do you have any pics or vids? I hate those stinkin knee whackers

I don't have video, but I will tell you that the stock one MAY be brighter. However, they also stick WWAAYY out and that was what I wanted to get rid of most. So I picked the brightest, lowest profile turn signals that I could get at the time.

I had a Motodynamic taillight on my CBR. Very nice for the price. I liked the sequential signals, since it was clear what direction you were going despite losing the width of the factory signals. Just wanted to point out I reached out to Motodynamic - and the light for the fz-09 linked above WILL work with the FZ-10, but apparently the plug is different. So as long as you don't mind de-pinning the stock plug from the OEM light and swapping it with the one from Motodynamic you should be good. They also said late July they would have a specific plug and play tail for the -10, along with a fender eliminator.

If the Motodynamic is the one anyone wants, I would just wait. Better to have a plug and play system and then have your OEM light intact to sell or use if you ever need to return to stock.

Agreed. I am just impatient so I may just order it LOL. I am someone who loves keeping everything in order to go back to stock but I think the OEM tail setup is the one thing i'd never return back unless I sold the bike and the next owner wanted it.
Honestly though, depinning a few plugs isn't bad at all, but I do it frequently so i'm a bit biased. I'd like to just buy it and experiment with it to see how in depth it would be just for the sake of the community.
But, like I said, late july is what I was told for a true FZ-10 PnP solution along with a fender eliminator.

CustomLED Blaster-X is the specific taillight he was talking about. It's plug and play and is mentioned in several posts in this thread.

Hope that helps
