Here is my list of complaints and wishes.
Complaints: 1. Brake feel (WTF Yamaha, put better pads on the bike stock) 2. Fuel Gauge (seriously how hard is it to get an accurate gauge or miles left to empty on the dash....it's a computer algo for christ sakes) 3. Rear suspension (a stiffer spring and the majority of the issues go away) 4. ECU programing (why do you have to make us go through the hassle of fixing what you do standard in Europe) 5. Yamaha, sit on your bikes and be honest. Look in your rear mirror and Tell me if see more than 1/2 yourself. Put bar end mirrors from the factory.
Wishes: 1. Auto Blipper shifter (I'd pay an additional $1000 for this from the factory) 2. Accurate fuel gauge from factory 3. Stainless steel brake lines and better pads from factory 4. Heated grips as an option (I wouldn't use them but it makes no sense not to offer these) 5. Functional (as in really works) quick disconnect wind screen 6. QD SW-MOTEC saddle bags with Yamaha logo 7. SW-MOTEC rear rack with top case with Yamaha logo 8. Adjustable rear set as an option

That's an excellent question. I would say the Quick Shifter, Heated Grips, Saddle Bags, and a good Wind Screen would be my options.

Bags, windscreen, affordable ECU options (computer controlled). Most of the other stuff is Yamaha trying to get the price down to compete in this class. I think they did a good job with this.

I'm all about the QD options for saddlebags and windshield. Optional heated grips would be something I'd buy (or negotiate.)
Just my viewpoint. If I wanted to buy a sportbike, I would have bought one. Probably the S1000SS, but maybe the R1M. Either way, rearsets and as-delivered quick shifter should remain options. (I do enjoy my quick shifter, but don't think the cost needs to be stock.)
This bike fits my needs well. Ride close to home a lot, take it to the mountains several times a year. QD bags and windshield would stay in the hotel on mountain days.

I would have liked a quick shifter, better fuel gauge, heated grips and a tft display.

This is my first post and I hate to make it a rant, but I was sitting at lunch fuming about this and then I log in and bam, here's this thread.
Why the hell can't Yamaha get the stock fueling right from the factory? It was crap on the original FZ1, it was crap on the FZ09, and it's crap on the FZ10. How is it "boutique" brands like Aprilia and KTM can deliver flawless fueling from the factory yet one of the big 4 brands like Yamaha has to have a flash just to make the damn thing work the way it should. I know the EPA regulations blah blah blah, but doesn't Aprilia and KTM have to adhere to the same guidelines?
This on off throttle crap is tiresome and the sketchy off idle fueling is, in my opinion, unacceptable. I was seriously sitting at lunch today thinking about the new Tuono or Super Duke and getting rid of the FZ10. Which I hate to do because I'm a huge Yamaha fan and the reliability of the Japanese brands is pretty comforting when you are 600 miles from home, but from what I'm gathering KTM and Aprilia reliability isn't that far off anymore. That and I will lose my ass on resale at this point if I switch.
I'm pretty sure it's 2017 so can we get rid of the shitty rubber hoses. My dirt bike came from the factory with braided steel lines, both brake and clutch. Seriously, in the bulk amounts that Yamaha would use them, what would braided brake lines actually add to each unit, maybe $20?
I understand tinkering with a bike to make it your own. Aftermarket pipe, seats, graphics, shorty levers, etc. However, I shouldn't have to fix fundamental design flaw like fueling, brakes, and suspension.
Okay, I'm done pissing and moaning. Contrary to this post I do like my bike, but you have to admit it's pretty frustrating to spend $12k-$13K on a bike and immediately have to rip the ECU out and send it to a third party tuner to hack around and try and fix what a billion dollar company should have got right in the first place. Or spend $100 and a couple hours putting brake lines on when they should have been there from day one. Okay maybe I wasn't done pissing and moaning. On the bright side, I'm glad I have first world problems.

Welcome to the forum. I understand your frustration and agree with most of what you said. It sucks to have to spend $1000 on a bike you just dropped $13k on. On the upside once you do you have that famous Yamaha reliability. This is my 5th bike all Yamaha's. None of them have left me sitting on the side of the road. Some of that was luck. I've had a few issues but mostly minor. Good luck.
