Well I can tell you the brake system works well. Well enough to keep me from rear ending a car.
I am driving at posted speeds down a two lane road in traffic. I am about to hit a manhole cover road re-cover bump. I lift up off the seat a little to cushion the bump, when a car 4 cars up slams on there brakes to make a left. This caused the chain reaction of all cars to brake hard. Luckily I am following at a safe distance, but I had to act fast. I used both brakes simultaneously and could feel the ABS chatter on the rear. The bike stopped with more than enough room between me and the bumper of the car in front of me. I was surprised at how quick I came to a stop given the short amount of time to react. I never felt out of control past having to brake hard and instantly. Confidence inspiring.

Wow, close calls are always nerve racking. Thanks for sharing, its good to know that they work well. Though we all hope to never have to test them ourselves. Glad you are ok.

It's always sobering how fast things can happen and the need to keep a safe following distance. I stopped well short of a rear end, but for a brief moment I thought I was going to have to make a choice of head-on lane or ditch.

Happy outcome for sure. I had a similar situation and was bracing for the impact, but the brakes saved the day.
Practicing emergency stops is good to do. ABS on our 10s works great. Straight line fast stops that are easy to control. Spending $50-75 for sintered HH replacement pads front and rear makes it even better. Very easy home swap per procedure thread.

Glad to read of the positive experience. Recently had a "Ford Transit" style van enter my lane going about 15-20 mph slower than me from in front of another vehicle. First real scare where I was going to lose things on the FZ. Tried not to panic brake and lock 'em, but I wasn't getting down quick enough and didn't really have time to engine brake(which I normally do in a panic situ). Kept things straight because I knew I was getting into a lock situ, thankfully I had managed to aim for the lane divider missing the rear of the vehicle. Gracious of the ABS kicking in to not lock up, but wouldn't have stopped in time to avoid collision if I had not reacted to avoid the impact.

Practicing those emergency stops is good to do on a regular basis. It's taught me the value of the sintered pads and an ABS system that will not let the wheels lock up.
