As the subject says, in your opinion, which slip-on exhaust sounds best? I'm talking slip-on only with the stock cat (however, if you do have a 3/4 or full system, feel free to chime in also). Which ones provide deeper tone, higher notes, higher DBs, more GP like sounds, etc.. I know beauty is in the ear of the beholder, so what sounds beautiful to you?

I personally like the look of the SC Project exhaust. As for sound, I think all slip-ons pretty much sound the same.

They all sound about the same. It comes down to looks and that's a personal preference.

What's wrong with the stock titanium unit? It looks good and I really can't fault the overall sound of the FZ's cross plane engine as emitted by the stock unit. Sticking a louder, more 'GP sounding' can on isn't an improvement, imo. The FZ-10 is NOT a GP machine.

Get the ecu flashed and you gain 12-15 hp and with the stock exhaust they won't hear you coming! I regretted putting a loud exhaust on my fz09, it was so loud my neighbors hated it and it sounded crazy going down the road. Plus, you don't dare speed because cops can hear you from blocks away and come after you. I like upgrades that actually make me faster, like suspension and ecu flash.

Weight is the biggest downside to the stock exhaust. It's sound is a little tinny on the high end vs a slip on. Obviously the stock exhaust is a little quieter.

Weight and looks are in the Cat. Taking 15-20 lbs off my FZ-09 was a nice option, but on this bike that doesn't affect me. The horsepower alone more than offsets it. I've decided to keep the stock system on mine. I like the titanium muffler a lot. I think they came up with a very slim, sharp design. And I can live with the cat, especially since it's mostly covered anyway. The one thing I intend to do is ceramic coat the header pipes to glacier black. I find the heat discolorations very distracting on an otherwise great looking bike.

I'll likely go with Kranz in Columbus, WI. He's a CeraKote applier which is what I want to use. The one thing I haven't done yet is get a quote. I'm also debating about drop off and pick up versus shipping. It's about an hour away from me.

Strong arguments for the stock exhaust. These are the reasons I have not yet opted for aftermarket exhaust for the past 6 months...But I'm slowly starting to covert to wanting a slip-on. Probably Scorpion, Akra, or Yosh..IDK I just like nice things but agree that they are not necessary. I think a lot has to do with the fact that is is winter here in NY and I can't ride so I want to add things to the bike until I can ride again..The wait is excruciating.

Precision Coatings is another I was initially looking at. Price appears to be around $200 for the header pipes. Whoever does it needs to verify that they will surface prep them adequately before coating. Link: performancecoatings.com/exhaust-coatings/4392428Cerakote has an excellent gallery for deciding on color. I find it hard to choose, but decided on glacier black. It helped me to cover the pipes in a picture with my thumb. Making them disappear is what the black would do. Silver, titanium, etc would contrast and make them stand out more. I think all the black around the engine on the -10 needs black pipes. Bikes with bright chrome or silver engine parts would work better with the light color ceramkote. I met a guy with a Akra slip-on for the FZ-10 and it's barely any louder than the stock exhaust. It gives it a little bit of a deeper tone than the more airy sound of stock exhaust but that's about it really. You barely save any weight with the Akra over the stock exhaust because stock exhaust is also titanium. If you are going for slip-on for louder exhaust more so than aesthetics, I think you have to go with a shorter can.

I'm partial to low, side exit exhausts. I ordered the PipeWerx with a shortened can, 250mm as opposed to their listed 320mm. Yeah, it's loud. Yeah, I wear earplugs. Idle/rev video: Acceleration/decel video (first few clips)
