The one negative thing that I keep hearing about on the FZ10 is the brakes feel "soft" but check this out:

The Bike world Supernaked Group test 2016, MT-10 vs S1000r vs 1290 Superduke R vs Speed Triple is a great video to watch. there's a short version and full version. Everyone talks about the brakes being soft but it pulls up from 100miles an hour 6 to 8 bike length shorter than the Superduke, 4 bike lengths shorter than The Triple and similar to the BMW. I thought the visordown video with the MT-10 vs BMWs1000r to be a bit bias. The S1000r my well be a better bike, it does cost more which should be taken into account and I keep hearing it's so good at everything it's clinical whereas the Mt-10 is raw and this makes it an excited bike to ride. The Bike World vids is well worth the time to watch.

I don't think the brakes are as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Yea, they feel spongy, but I've spooled it up past 100mph and hammered the brakes and it's stops just fine. Better pads and stainless lines for sure, but I think the brakes are fantastic.
As far as the beemer goes, cost of ownership kept me away.
Seen too many Aprillas broken down at the track + cost of ownership.
Love the 1290 Super Duke and I'm a huge fan. I've owned 5 KTM's total including an '07 Super Duke and I have two KTM dirt bikes in the garage now. That said, it's expensive and I'm not sure it would make a good every day commuter.
Been a fan of the Speed Triple forever, but not too crazy about the latest styling and reliability is a question, never owned a Triumph.
Not brand loyal but Yamaha always works for me. They just seem to have the complete package. Handling, horsepower, reliability, low cost of ownership, parts support & ease of maintenance. I was really happy with my '07 FZ1, I just wanted an updated version with a little more soul. FZ-10 fits the bill.
