Hey all, I have a 2020 and I'm about to send the ECU off to get flashed. Is there an easy way to tell if the bike has an aftermarket air filter? I'm comfortable with taking the bike apart but If I can avoid it I'd like to. I shined a flashlight in the intake and it looks dang near blocked off so I'm wondering how air even gets into the airbox. I thought it came through the grill between the headlights.

Air enters the airbox through the center of the frame behind the headlight. Unfortunately you are going to have to take the tank off to get at the airbox to verify what you have in there. There is a grill in front of the frame opening as well so if you did have a borescope you likely wouldn't be able to get in there.   |

What he said. You'll need to lift the tank and pull the airbox cover.
FWIW aftermarket filters don't add anything on these bikes except the convenience of cleaning it rather than replacing it.

A lot of aftermarket filters come with stickers that you place on the airbox indicative the filter is reusable. Maybe the prior owner slapped this onto his airbox. That's how I figured out my track bike had an aftermarket filter. Might just be as "simple" as lifting the tank to see if there's a sticker there. Simple is up to interpretation on this bike with the god awful design. There is a way to crack the panels open without completely uninstalling them to lift the tank. It's been a while since I did that. I had to do it in 2018 when I registered my bike in Commiefornia. I had to prove it was a California model and the EPA sticker is on the back of the airbox. Drove to and from DMV with some of the tank panels off and the rest hanging from the bike. Was ridiculous.
