Hello from Albuquerque NM!
I just picked up a 2022 MT-10 with 2500 miles on it! It has some basic additions on it but is largely stock, I'm looking forward to doing some mods and putting on the miles this year!
This is my first hyper-naked bike I've owned, I'm coming from the last 15 years on a 2004 Yamaha Roadstar Warrior, which is a sick sports cruiser and has served me well for the last 74,000 miles I've put on it, but it's showing it's 20 years of age and I'm stoked to get on something new, faster, and more agile.
I was looking at maybe getting a superduke or GSX-1000 but after so many miles on the warrior I'm definitely biased towards the quality of Yamaha bikes, that warrior is a tank and even 20 years later it still pulls like it did when I first got it.
Here's some shots of the new bike! I'm thinking about getting a slightly larger wind screen for longer rides and doing a wrap to protect the paint and give it some personality.

Couple questions since I'm new to hyper naked bikes and the modern features on this bike (like seriously this bike is a supercomputer compared to the warrior, ride by wire is sick, the TFT dash is amazing):
- Probably a stupid question, but this is my first bike with a slipper clutch and I've also never used a quick shifter before either - it seems like when riding at the correct RPM you can quick shift either up or down without engaging the clutch, is that correct or should I be using the clutch and typical rev matching for down shifting and clutch engagement for upshifting? On older bikes I've ridden and the warrior, you could speed shift (no clutch up-shift) at high rpm for intense roads but generally doing so is avoided to not wear out the gears and clutch and I would never not clutch in and rev match for down shifting. The manual mentions "unless using the quick shifter, use engage the clutch when shifting" so do you have to engage the quick shifter separately or is it just about being in the correct RPM range?
- Is it just me or do the rear brakes suck? I feel like when I'm braking and applying equal pressure to front and rear brakes I'm getting 80% front and 20% rear. The previous owner said he swapped out the stock break pads (which are apparently not that responsive, I don't know haven't ridden) for more responsive pads. The front is super responsive but the rear is just barely doing anything or at least it feels that way to me. Admittedly, the dual rotors on the front wheel are massive compared to the single on the rear.
- What are the most popular mods people like to do on this bike? First and most obvious to me is a decat and new exhaust, but was also thinking about AIS block off. Fortunately the previous owner has already done a lot of what I would have had I bought new:
◦ frame sliders ◦ comfort seat ◦ bar end mirrors ◦ radiator and oil cooler guards
- Along those lines - any recommendations on decat and exhausts? This TOCE decat and exhaust looks pretty sick but jury is still out I haven't done enough research on exhaust systems for this bike yet
- What about tires? I'm probably going to be doing a bit more touring than high speed street racing, any recommendations on a good dual compound tire that is a good balance between long touring and twisty mountain roads?
Looking forward to being part of the forum! If anyone is the NM and wants to ride send me a DM!

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your new bike. One hell of an upgrade compared to your previous one. Your new bike has a quick shifter on it, which means (for the most part) you don't ever need to use the clutch. The only time I ever use the clutch now is when starting to move and stopping. Every other time I'm using the quick shifter. It doesn't matter what RPM I'm at. At first I thought this would kill the fun of the bike, but I was wrong. I love the quickshifter. If you want, you can disable the quickshifter in the settings for up or down, or both and down. The rear brake is basically useless for anything above 30mph, but this is fairly common with most sportbikes where the weight is mostly in the front. The front brake isn't anything to brag about either, but it's good enough for a majority of situations. The only mod I installed (other than sliders, engine protectors) is a touring screen from Puig. I would love to get the comfort seat, but it raises the seat height by about an inch. For the tires, I'm a fan of the michelin road 6s. I replaced my rear tire at 4,100. It was just beyond the wear indicators. Now I have just over 5k miles on the Road 6 rear, and I would guesstimate i still have another 3k left or so. The original front tire I replaced at 7k miles with the Road 6 as well. I'm not a super aggressive rider by any means, but I believe these tires are adequate for my riding style, and probably are even overkill.

That's awesome! I'm never going to use the clutch for up shifting again! it is insanely satisfying using the quick shifter, might take a little more time for me to get used to quick down shifting and I might reserve that more for track style riding as opposed to daily but can definitely see the benefits there in fast corners.
I'll have to take a look at those michelins, I had a pair on my warrior and didn't care for them but that was years ago and definitely a different tire so I'll take a look at them again, would be great to get 8k out of a tire.

I think you'll find that adjusting to the quickshifter, even for downshifting, is super easy . Hand off the gas, and slap down on the shifter. That easy. Yeah man, keep us updated on which tires you end up going with, I'm interested to see the opinions of others for the tire.
