Hello. Strubes 250 here, AKA Pete. I am a longtime rider, about to turn 70. I have spent the last 20 years,(after a break of about fifteen), working my way through a bucket list of bikes I have wanted. During most of that time, I have had multiple bikes in the garage. Among them, 04 KawasakiZRX12, 2010 Ducati multi 1200S, 2018 Ninja 100SX, and the only one left, 16 BMW R1200RS, which I will keep. My riding days are numbered, and I want to add another inline 4 to my life. Specifically an MT10.And here is where I invite feedback. I have found one that I love for sale. Beautiful 2018, color I like , with some tasty mods, as well as any original parts included. The price is very good relative to the market. The engine was completely rebuilt at the dealership after it blew. I have seen the receipts, and the bike was in the shop for a year, during which time the seller replaced it with a Honda, and now it is for sale. One year warranty on the rebuild, with about 5 months left. Seller has only done a couple hundred miles since the rebuild. The bike is immaculate, tasty to me, and the price is right. But I have some misgivings. I invite your thoughts, and hope to be on a MT10, one way or another.

First of all welcome!
Second of all I've seen a few MT's have the engines let go, usually bottom end things with rod knock. I just saw one on FB yesterday (a 16 or 17 IIRC) where there was a lack of lubrication to the top end and the cams galled up in the head. That being said there's thousands out there with TONS of miles on them with zero issues. I bought my 2019 new and have just a hair over 13k miles with zero problems so far. They seem to go at lower mileage - 6-15k ish from what I've gathered.
The MT is unlike any I4 you've ever ridden going by your list. The crossplane engine is a whole different beast. The front end is very light through 3rd gear (had mine lift the front a hair in 3rd accelerating onto the highway this morning) and it's all giggles. It's also really tame if you keep the revs down.
If the engine's already been rebuilt on the one you're looking at I wouldn't hesitate with it, especially with a warranty left on it.

Thanks for your response. I have ridden many other bikes, including an R1, and that is why i want to own a cross plane MT10. I just don't know if I can find that much confidence in a dealer rebuild, by a nameless tech. The list of parts on the receipt was 3 pages long. Basically everything.

Just me, but I would not want to buy a bike with a rebuilt motor unless I was the one that rebuilt it.

I actually agree with both Willl84 and bmwd40. Refrain from buying a re-built motor but if it has a warranty and issue root cause is fixed during repair, what not give it a try if its worth dollars you being offered?
