I am looking to change chains in the upcoming months and I am looking for a chain conversion kit. I have only found one other thread with a link from 2wheel (can’t remember the rest) but a trusted website and I believe they flashed my ECU. Online I found this conversion kit and was wondering what you all think. stoltecmoto.com/shop/uncategorized/17-fz-10-520-chain-conversion-kit/Any and all advice would be welcomed. Thank you!

Going off a recent threads up going up/down teeth, someone brought up that going too far would render the cruise control inoperable. It was a very recent thread so check the tech questions sub-forum for more info.
I have no personal experience with chain and sprocket conversion so unfortunately that's all I have to offer.
Stoltec Moto put a lot of effort into his FZ10 when he had it so anything he worked with was tested and true. I miss his threads.

Thank you both I appreciate it. RedAndBlack there is an old forum member who lived in my area, heavily modded black FZ10/MT10 and I wonder if that was him.

Will do you have any idea on the teeth sizes? Could stay OEM or change things? Id like a little more low end torque without completely messing up the top end. I don't really speed much but don't want to be miserable on the highway.

If you want more bottom end then go bigger on rear/smaller on front, but you'll lose top end speed. If you want top speed go smaller rear/bigger front. Stock is 16/43 (gen 1, gen 2 is 16/41 - same as R1) which is 2.6875 ratio so changing one front tooth is almost equal to going 3 on the rear. Ging from 16/43 to 16/45 for instance will drop your speed by about 3 MPH at 70. So factory at 70 MPH you'll be at about 67 MPH so not a huge drop, but acceleration will be a touch quicker and MPG's will go down because your revs will be higher in any given gear. Going to 16/41 for instance you'd be at about 73.4 MPH at the rame RPM that had you at 70 MPH with the stock 16/43 gearing. Good thing about these bikes is the speedo won't be off as it's read from the wheels not the countershaft sprocket like bikes used to. I used this neat calculator for it: www.blocklayer.com/chain-sprocket Stock tire OD is 24.8" for a 190/55-17.

Sorry for all the questions Will. My last one for now.. do you think I'd need to re-flash the bike once the gearing is changed?

Just when I thought my questions were done. When selecting the chains on the website some say 1000cc rated and some say 1200cc rated. I understand our bikes are 1000cc but does a 12000cc chain still work on our bike? I would assume it's perfectly fine just want to make sure.

My TLR made 125 at the wheel with exhaust/tune and stuff so noticeably less when stock. The MT makes much more than that at the wheel and comes with a 525 which is narrower by a smidge and plenty have done 520 kits (even more narrow still) with no problems.

I appreciate the feedback. The website is a little off with their pricing. It’s 170$ with none of the options selected. You have to add a chain and that brings the price up a bit based on which chain you choose.

Others are like +$15 or +$25. But yea, there's some expensive chains in there lol
