I'm getting some gear to take my bike on a 6 hour ride to Monterey from Los Angeles for a business trip so I need some good storage for nice clothes and my laptop. I saw on Nelson-Riggs site this commuter tank bag being held on with just magnets. Is this feasible or just marketing? I would prefer this as I don't want to have to unstrap the bag everry 100 to 130 miles for fuel. I was going to put my tire patch kit, air pump, and all that kind of stuff in it instead of the bags on the back. Any feedback would be appreciated! Right now all I have is a 40 liter dry bag that I'm going to fit sideways once I find a luggage rack that will work. I'm trying to do this on a budget as I only need to do this trip once, maybe twice a year.

I did a tank bag for years on my first few bikes. I never had any issues. Mine did come with a safety strap that buckled in at the handlebars but I don't think I ever needed it.
Only issue I had was little magnetic rocks or bits of metal whatever would get picked up by the magnets. Had to make sure I wiped the magnets clean before putting them on. My first bike I scratched the tank a bit before I learned that lesson.
