I did a dumb-ass thing yesterday. While attempting to adjust the rear brake pedal for the new lower pegs, I wound up pulling all the wires out of the switch. I pulled the switch out to try to re-attach the wires, but it was not possible, so I ordered a new switch. I thought the switch plugged in under the seat, but the wire harness runs forward. Can I access the connector by removing the right side cover or will I have to lift/remove the tank?

I know it connects on the brake side somewhere near the oil fill cap. You can probably reach up between the frame and feel the connector. With the added slack of the loose wire, maybe see if you can pull it down into view to disconnect it. And then before you connect the new switch, try to route it the same way and connect it before stuffing it back into the frame. You may be able to tape the new connector to the end of the old wire and pull it through, forward.
Obviously if there more than one wire tie (minus the one near the shock), this might not work.
If it were me, since I've had the tank off and know how to get it off with minimal fucking with the PITA side pieces, I would just lift the tank and see what I can see from there.

I was trying to trace it today and it looks like the connector is at the top rear of the engine, so it looks like I'm gonna have to lift the tank. I shouldn't have to remove the tank completely. The other PITA is that the switch will have to be attached to the peg/pedal support before I try to pull the wires up to the connector. It will be another 7-10 days before the part gets here, so I'll have some time to do more research.
