Hi, any one know the torque for the oil pan bolts? 2020 MT 10. I have a shop manual I found online for a 2017, but wonder if they updated the value for a 2020. My 2020 started leaking at 4500 miles. Warranty expired. Pulling it apart was pretty easy, just time consuming having to remove full exhaust plus headers. Thanks!

I use the same manual as it covers our generation of bike. I have a 2020 as well. If someone has different data I’m sure they will chime in.

Are you replacing the old gasket with anouther stock Yamaha oil pan gasket? If so what will prevent it from leaking again? I would suggest putting the cleaned oil pan on a piece of glass and make sure the gasket surface is flat. Use a feeler gage to see if there are any gaps between the glass and any part of the oil pan mating surface. If it is not flat, the new gasket is going to leak again. I am going to have to do this on my 2021 that has just under 6000 miles this winter.

Nothing we can do about that. Sure hope the new gasket is the cure, new oil pan is not outrageous price if I recall.

23' factory service manual says 7.4lb-ft (10N-m) and to use "loctite".

It’s worth it to me for piece of mind/not having to pull all this apart again. I will check it for flatness before I install it! Wish me luck! Update. 1 month wait for the new oil pan from Parzilla, must be coming from Japan!

Wanted to chime in a caution:
Traditionally, Yamaha uses those hollow rolled aluminum crush washers, and has a fairly high torque figure in the service manual. This is fine, until you replace the crush washer with a solid aluminum crush washer - at this point the torque listed in the service manual will strip.
Ah. Ok, pulled up the service manual. It's fine. For whatever reason, the MT10 listed engine oil drain bolt is 17lb-ft, as compared to the 32lb-ft listed for the Tenere, MT07, Tracer 900, and MT09.
I'm actually surprised Yamaha addressed that. What is the listed drain plug torque in the first gen MT10's?

I wonder why all the other MT's and such are basically stripped drain plug bolts waiting to happen?

I have done 3 oil changes on my 2020 machine using a new good fitting plain copper washer at the drain bolt use 20nm no thread lock without any leaks whatsoever, 40yrs in the trade taught me manuals are not always right.

I did not download the 23' FSM, I bought it (paperback) from a Yamaha dealer. My cost as an employee was about $93 US, reatail is probably around $120-130.
