New MT10 owner here and thanks for letting me join the forum. Just bought a new MT10 to replace a 2009 non ABS Fazer FZ1 that got stolen. Very sadly missed, but it was approaching the 24K valve service and fate obviously decided that I should move with the times and graduate to 6 axis IMU, front and rear wheel speed sensors, drive by wire throttle with attendant ABS, traction control, cruise control and so on. Got a puzzle for you - I like to have stainless steel bar ends on my bikes and I make them on my lathe from 303 stainless bar. The stock MT10 bar ends have an 8mm hex in the end to torque them, but at the bottom of the 8mm hex socket is a 3/16" hex socket. What is the purpose of the 3/16" socket?

Welcome to the board. Sorry to hear about the bike being jacked. Enjoy that new bike.
Sorry no answer about the bar end puzzle.

Because handlebars are free moving for one. Also many owners perform small additions to their projects while the bike is on the side stand. Consequently causing ME to one day probably stripping one of them out, then I can use the other before I have to break the vise grips out and ruin the finish. 😊 Seriously: Nice digs! I didn't realize the 3/16 until you pointed out and I went and looked at my bike. Cool find, I'm curious as well.
