Not an MT-10 topic ... from my old Tracer buds ... but should concern us as well. This ought to be interesting. To me this looks like material failure and Yamaha's answer sounds really sketchy. Yeah, getting warranty coverage is such a major PITA in my experience it's absolutely not worth the expense. Just shove the money in an account in case something breaks.
They'll do whatever they possibly can to avoid paying.
I had a 2018 MT07, and the plastic frame around the headlight cracked after 6 months. They said it was because I was running an aftermarket windscreen (teeny tiny little thing like 6" tall), despite the fact that there was no physical connection between the windshield mounts and the headlight module.

IMO we need to do a class action against Yamaha for these headlights cracking all the damn time. SO MANY are cracking lately it's insane. I have small cracks in each of mine. And no, headlight protectors are not the answer. I have Lamin-X on mine and they cracked. Others on FB and here have acrylic covers and theirs cracked too. The cracks are not on the surface - they're internal.

The cracks are not on the surface - they're internal. Yeah, I think they're over-torquing the brackets, or unevenly doing it, something like that. Or maybe there's some manufacturing problem where the don't *quite* line up normally but get bent into place. Dunno what the deal is, but it's a VERY common problem. |
