Hey all I’m up shits creek without a paddle, so my 2017 fz-10 won’t start, I hear the fuel pump doing its thing I’ve torn it down pretty much to the frame so I could check the spark plugs they are sparking, I put in a new stator and rectifier and it still isn’t turning over. All fluids are topped up and everything and it’s got a brand new battery. When I flip it to run I can hear everything doing what it should but even when I spray starting fluid in it might put put a little bit no dice. Any advice? I can’t afford to go to a shop and I don’t really trust the ones near me as they have shafted me in the past

Try to bump start it? This worked for me once after a similar issue on a different bike.
You've pretty much did everything I can think of. Maybe besides check air filter and put fresh gas and/or stabilizer in it. Maybe let us know a little more detail about the bike as well. Mileage, modifications, recent work done to it. Etc.

My $.02 IC engines need 5 things to function:air, fuel, compression, spark and proper ignition (spark) timing. If it sputters after adding "starting fluid", I would focus on seeing if fuel is getting into the cyclinders. I know on other bikes that the pick up hose (in gas tank) to fuel pump rots away or becomes disconnected from the pump. If the fuel pump is making noise, this does NOT guarantee that fuel is being delivered to the injectors.

Does it spin but not fire? You said it's not turning over but that could mean just physically spinning the crank or actually firing and running.
If it's cranking but not firing is there a CEL? If so you'll need a code reader and adapter to see what the code is and go from there.
Also it would be beneficial to check compression but that requires plug removal again.

Quick update, I’m at work. So I was an idiot and put the old rectifier back on in accident with the new battery. I’m going to check the new battery today when I get home. From what I’ve read it needs to be at 12.6v to start? I don’t know if I fully charged the battery to be honest when I got it I was freaking out about the bike not starting and not thinking clearly. So I have checked the air filter all 4 plugs, the plugs are all sparking right the filter looks brand new. It’s a 2017 with 14k miles on it. I bought it last spring from a dealer local to me. As far as I know it doesn’t have any modifications on it except the previous owner but a snub exhaust on it, that WAS my plan this summer prior to having to replace everything. I’ve checked all the hoses and electrical plugs I can to confirm no corrosion or breaks, I repulled the plugs and they were damp and smelled like gas, if I hold down on the start switch it will rumble but as soon as I let go it peters out. I’m praying it’s just a shot battery and not a fuel pump issue. If I do have to buy a new battery does anyone have any recommendations, what ccp I should look for or brands to stay away from? I know obviously don’t buy a neverstart but other than that should I look more towards drycell and gel batteries instead of liquid?

Definitely make sure the battery is fully charged. I'd even bring it to a shop and have them load test it to make sure it's good. These bikes are very tempermental with low voltages when cranking. If the plugs are wet that means you're getting fuel and if it sputters your getting spark. Now not getting enough of both (like when loading the battery by cranking) could cause a no-start problem.
You could alternatively put a meter on the battery and see what the voltage drops to when you crank it. My 19 has the original battery but when the temps drop into the 40's she doesn't like to start. I have to put it on the battery tender all night to be sure it'll fire up in the morning. Probably about time for a new battery for mine lol.

So I had it charging for 18 hours, tested and it’s reading 13.6v but drops to 11.5 when I try to turn it over, I checked my fuses the starter fuse had time whiting so I swapped it it sounds like it wants to start so bad but as soon as I take my finger off of run it falls flat again

Check everything step-by-step (with peaceful mind... its made to run and it will run). refer to troubleshooting guide page from service manual. I would say look for easy obvious things first...all the best!

Sorry for showing my ignorance but I can’t find anything online, where is the starter and are there more fuses on the right side of the bike(standing at the rear looking forward)

Electric Starter location show in picture. As far as i know, there is no fuse location on right side air scoop or side cover of the bike (standing at the rear looking forward), only on ECU side.

The box under the gas tank that the fuel hose is connect to the single connector on the right side of the bike should there be a hose connected there

Try using a jumper pack from walmart or something. If it fires right up then the battery is toast

Hey everyone, so I got to the fuses last night, the third fuse down in the right fuse box. It’s like etv2 or something like that was blown to shit it’s a 7.5 brown fuse so I swapped it with the spare that comes with the bike, I tapped start and it fired right up it sounded really really rich and then petered out again but IT FUCKING RAN boys!!!!!!! I put it back together tried again and it started again but again was really really rich I know obviously I’ve been trying to start it for weeks so it’s probably got to burn out all that gas, it was throwing a lot of smoke from the exhaust so I stopped messing with it last night because it was dark and I didn’t want to be up to late( it was like 10:30 and I had to be up at 4 for work) it ran tho so for a minute so idk what to try today but I’m so so close!

That fuse blows if the battery is hooked up backwards. Glad it was an easy fix!
