Hey guys, I've had my MT-10 since 2018, put in more than 30000 km on it and loved it, did a track day as well with it, a few week-long road-trips and so on. I wasn't particularly looking at another bike but these past few days, the S1000R came to mind and I've been reading up on it, watching a few reviews. The bike looks fun, obviously expensive, BMW and all that but I can do with the price tag.
Has anyone road tested it ? I'm most curious about the riding position because I really like the way the MT-10 is ridden, position is really comfortable for me and I saw the S1000R seems to have a sportier position, more weight on the wrists, foot peg seem a bit higher as well.
Thanks !

Its a great bike but if you read most reviews the common theme is it has no "soul".
Most thing while very competent, its just not fun and lacks character.

Yeah I saw that, people saying it's "flat" and so on but I have a hard time understanding that.
I personally don't do wheelies or crazy speed, I just enjoy nice roads with curves and so I enjoy the MT-10. I'm not sure why the S1000R wouldn't be fun as well ?!

Try and get a test ride on one if able. That will be the best way to compare for you style of riding.

For sure I will, I'm considering this swap for next year, I'm just gathering info and feedback for now, but road test will be the deciding factor

Ya can’t go wrong with a German engineered bike. BMW was on my short list until I got the MT. Just couldn’t cough up the dough for one.
I love my VW and Audi. I can’t say I would ever buy US or Japanese car again in my lifetime. Trucks are a different story tho. Love my 1987 F250 IDI for hauling stuff, that rig will go with me to the grave.

I've never met anybody that's owned one and then owned something later on that they liked better.
Downsides seem to be the cost and the maintenance and got require. I dunno what the full deal is, but I guess there's also a lot of things that you can do on our bikes that you can't do without the dealer on their bikes.
