Hi everyone!
I've been riding only sport bikes and currently ride an R6. Now I'm looking into either an MT-09 or an MT-10.
I've ridden my buddy's 2021 MT-09 for a few hours and loved the way it felt. Basically I'm looking at whichever one will be more fun from red light to red light, will be easier to power wheelie, and just in general be a hoon on lol.
The 09 felt very light and nimble but I've heard the 10 has an even shorter wheelbase.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you just want to street ride and hoon I say get the MT-09.
If you have ambitions of tracking or touring get the MT-10.
MT-10 is a more versatile platform that can be setup for touring cross country or stripped down and tear up the track.
MT-09 is really meant for neither of those things (SP version is better suited for track) and a great hooning and commuting bike.

My 2021 MT10 will power wheelie in 4th on flat ground with a bit of a tug and hard snap of the throttle, 5th will come up going over knolls. 3rd 2nd and 1st... well you get the idea. My friend has a 23 MT09 and loves it so far but it definitely doesn't seem to be nearly as wheelie happy as the 10. (We both have 2WDW tunes with no restriction exhausts) The 09 will definitely wheelie easy in 2nd, but the power is obviously down as compared to the 10, which also has an inch shorter wheel base. The 09 doesn't seem really to want to power up in 3rd. If you're red light to red light then either would be a lot of fun I think, I really couldn't say which would be more fun, probably about the same! (I live in a rural area so I just don't know for sure)
For the current generations I think the 10 has looks on the 09, and the CP4 sound is king in my opinion.
We have yet to swap bikes on a ride so I can't tell you which is more comfortable, I'd maybe lean toward the 09 but they are probably really similar. His MT09 is a good 50ish pounds lighter than mine but the MT10 is still very nimble. More nimble than a crotch rocket (I came from a CBR600RR) and I wouldn't think the 09 is that much more nimble than the 10. I do assume the 10 is quite a bit more solid through corners.
I can't recommend the MT10 enough, I love mine and never want a different bike! I assume the new gens are incredible too perhaps even better. Though with the 1 tooth smaller rear sprocket the new gens have they might not power up in 4th like the old gen. But who the F needs to do that anyway? lol

If you're in heavy traffic with lots of stop go, you might dislike the 10. My first gear clutch out idle speed is like 10-13 and it absolutely hates going under 13. Lots of chugging.

I’ve had both and they’re very versatile, but it’s truly up to the rider. You can make both work in a variety of ways, but the 09 is more adept to city riding. Doesn’t mean you can’t ride the 10 in the city, just takes more effort and a little patience. I had fun with both, and all my bikes have to adjust to city life. Cheers

I had a 2017 mt09 and now have a 22 mt10. They both want to power wheelie although the mt10 will do it in higher gears as well. For city riding I like the mt09 more. The mt10 is more planted on the freeway and has considerably more power at 70+ (below that they feel similar). Also the mt10 is better for touring and track (unless it’s a small track with no straight). In the canyons, they are equally as fun. I also love the cruise control of the mt10, although now the mt09sp comes with it too.
Overall if I had to choose one I would get the mt10
