Alright so I've only been able to find one thread on this about the 2022's headlights. I'm looking into buying a 2022 MT-10. The only issue I have with the bike is how awful that front headlight looks, and don't come attack me saying well then get a different bike, or you don't see the headlight when you're behind it. I got all that it's just a personal preference that I love everything about the bike except that. So, with that said has anyone looked into doing some type of retrofitting headlights or possibly having a shroud 3d printed just to make the headlight look more complete? It looks like Yamaha spent all their time on other parts of the bike and then just decided to slap to bug eye looking projectors on the front and call it a day. Also, if there is no option for the headlight, does it pay to just go with an older model? I know the updates to the new 2022 aren't super different as far as engine goes besides the improved fuel economy.
Thanks

I suspect with a bit of research, and a gamble. The pre 2022 headlight assembly could probably be fitted. I don't know anyone who has gone that route. I totally agree with you regarding the headlight assembly aesthetics on the 2022/23 MT-10, it is butt ugly to the bone. I almost wished Yamaha kept the old styling but just added all the tech of the latest version. As for the fuel economy I believe that is due to the fact the 2022 version has a 42 vs a 43 rear sprocket. I actually fitted the 42 rear sprocket to my 2019 MT, with the ECU re-flash I've just done I haven't been able to assess the economy due to poor weather in the PNW.

I think if it comes to it and the economy does improve enough to be relatively close to the 2022/23 i may go with the older style. Would be nice to have wheelie control though….

Kinda wish they would have kept the old gen stuff below the lights on new model.

I've just picked up a salvage 22 SP. The accident wiped out the left side headlight and the main casting. Unfortunately they just don't appear to be available aftermarket or 2nd hand like gen 1 parts are and OEM is ridiculously expensive. Therefore I'm looking hard at retrofitting the Gen 1 assembly to Gen 2 bike. It looks like it should work but keen to know if it has been done before... On the other hand I have a KTM Duke headlight just sitting here. I'm wondering how much work that would be to adapt - and how it would look.🤔

I don't like the headlights either. I bought a gen 1 shroud thinking it should bolt on somehow but it needs a bit of cutting and at the end I don't know if it's going to look better or if I just ruined a $150 shroud. I did cut the lower wing and glued it under the headlight. I thought I would find a way to bolt it but the steering damper hit it, so cut and glue. I also put on headlight protectors to soften the bug eye look, Ali express for $20. And can ride with highbeams on now. And I unplugged the eyebrows. It's just polarising to much. I'm happier but still not happy.
