I stumbled across something I've never heard of until today; superbike schools. I watched some videos on California Superbike School and was curious if any of you are familiar with this one or others like it. Any input is appreciated! superbikeschool.com/schedule/

I seen and heard of them for many years. Never tried one though. one of our own FZ10.org forum members markschellinger is an instructor at the Yamaha school. He has a post about it somewhere. They just got some FZ-10's added to their fleet.

That's Keith Code's school, if you haven't already you should read his book "A twist of the wrist". I was actually thinking of doing his single day school at Barber this coming spring. As mentioned above The Yamaha Champions riding school looks to be really good, and Jason Pridmore's school looks good also.

Good to know this isn't a waste of money if I do it then. I'd love a school day on another 10. The idea of rolling the dice with my own is a bit much for me.

You might look into doing a track day at your local track. It helps to go with a buddy or two. instead of pushing limits, explore your typical patterns and reactions at your own pace. You'll still have fun blasting down the straights, and you'll learn a bit about yourself on the curves. this kind of self-exploration gives you a lot of info to take to the class.

I know it's not the same as classes, but since attending one this past spring I like to practice and reinforce what I learned. I live three miles down the road from our county fairgrounds which has several large parking lots connected to each other. I like to start my rides by going there first and doing a bunch of figure eights and tight circles. I vary speeds and pattern sizes throughout for up to 1/2 hour each visit. Hitting speeds upward to 40-50 mph on fairly tight turns keeps me sharp on techniques, balance and control. Tight curved roads don't always provide the option of speed and frequently have oncoming traffic to worry about. Finding large blacktopped areas that are used infrequently are good places to take advantage of.
