Howdy, MT10 people. It appears I am going to become one of you. It's been a fairly bumpy, uneven trip to finally get to the doorstep of MT10 ownership. Background: For decades now, I've maintain a bike for the super long-range road trips in the Desert West - Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and California. The FJR1300 served in this role initially, followed by a Hayabusa for many years. Then I went insane during the first year of Covid, and traded the Busa in for a serious European hot rod, a BMW S1000XR. Put an auxiliary fuel cell on it, which it gave it a 300+ mile range between fill-ups. I admit it was an overly expensive machine, but it did prove to be a Dream Ride:
But at 30,000 miles, this bike has started giving me serious problems - some are damn serious. The Keyless Gas Cap will no longer latch. When that was being replaced under warranty, they discovered that the fuel tank itself, made from space-age nylon, has "swollen" in size and also needs to be replaced under warranty. While we are waiting for the new tank to arrive... I discovered the dreaded coolant pump leak, a well known problem on this bike. Enough of this bullshit, I am cutting my losses here with this "premium European motorcycle", and going back to a reliable Yamaha platform. But not another FJR; I want something smaller and lighter with big power. And that's the MT10.... or so I am told. I will likely have more than a couple questions over the next few months. Glad this forum exists!

Hope to see you on a MT soon!
You will love the bike as it is very versatile.
I do everything from long road trips, mountain trips, camping, all the way to track days.
This bike is truly a swiss army knife!

For this exact reason, i am staunch supporter of Japanese Motorcycle for their reliability. (i had enough problems on German Cars already...)

After several more weeks of research, sadly, it turns out I can't use the '22-'23 MT10 for the role I want it to play, because Yamaha removed the far aft hard mounting points that was standard in all previous model years. There are no beefy, sturdy side and top racks available for the 2022+ models. But plenty of offerings on '16-'21 MT10s. So... I found a 2021 MT10 with a mere 1535 miles on odometer at a dealership in Bend, Oregon, about 5 hours southwest of me. Called them, purchased it sight unseen, just putting a shit-ton of faith in what the guys were telling me of it's condition was accurate. It was... bike was in excellent condition. Strapped it down to my buddy's moto-trailer, and we dragged it back home.
Here we go... this ought too be good!

Nice!
I bought side and top mount panniers from Shad, been very happy with them.

Very nice bike. Get a comfort seat for it. The version for the 2022 MT fits the older older models.
