Hey Everyone, So on sunday after posting about my 2021 MT-10 that had an engine failure I was scrolling around and someone posted a link to dealers that supposedly had some MT-10 SP's in stock. I decided to submit inquiries through the Yamaha website to all my local dealers to see what they have and are asking for the bike. So I want to say about 4 dealers reached out to me about the MT-10 SP. The highest one was asking $6,000 above MSRP, another for $5,000, 4,000 and finally one for $3,000. Every single one of them recited the words "this is the only one we are receiving and the mark up is final". Not a single one was willing to come down on the price. Fair enough I suppose, I work in car sales and I understand that the dealers really do not make much on new bike sales, and being that it is genuinely a rare bike, why shouldn't they try and make some money? After all the SP is special. I do live in southern California which is full of high income earners, densely populated, and has great roads for motorcycles. So anyone who tells me that "you are a fool for paying anything above MSRP" is just plain wrong. I want the bike, and if I was unwilling to pay then I would simply never have a chance. This isn't the midwest where I can walk into a dealer during a blizzard and get the bike for under MSRP because it "isn't riding season". It's riding season all year round here so don't be unreasonable. So I ended up agreeing to purchase the one with the lowest price, which was $3,000 above MSRP. My buddy drove me 140 miles to this dealer this morning and I rode it home. Towards the last half of the ride it was 100 degrees outside and was not all that fun. But the bike is great, and I am happy with my purchase. I've attached pictures for you all but you all know what the bike looks like. Sorry I took the lowest priced one in SoCal from you guys. Better luck next time! As for how the bike feels... it just feels like my old MT-10 but with new style and new screen. It has been a year since my last bike blew up so it's not exactly fresh in my mind, and I only had 2,400 miles in the seat. The suspension feels good but I am no pro rider so maybe the Ohlins electronic stuff is just wasted on me, even though that's what I wanted. The quick shifter is smoother than my last bike and this is the first bike I've had with an auto blip downshift, though it doesn't blow me away it is a nice feature to have. Cruise control... works? I don't know why people drool over this. I sell new cars which all almost drive themselves on the highway so maybe I'm spoiled (my personal car does not do that though). And the speed is hardly constant on SoCal highways so it's almost more of a nuisance to use it because I'm constantly moving my left thumb over to adjust the speed. That's about is so thanks for reading!

I wanted to get an SP so bad, but after finding out that a base model was ~$17500 out the door, opted for a used 2018 w 4k miles instead. Saved up cash over the course of 5 years or so just to get mine at $13770 out the door. As an aside for those that don't know, we can't buy new from out of state here in Ca and get it registered either. Anything with 8500 or fewer miles is considered "new". Another factor that keeps it a seller's market out here.
wiiface100 , did the bike that blew up on you give any indication that it was going to happen?

And it got up to 125mph and did wheelies no problem. In the video it starts to sound weird about a minute or so before it gave out. But by that point the engine was probably fucked beyond repair anyways.

Congratulations on the new bike, hope it gives you many years of enjoyment. I like the belly pan, I'm tempted to see if I could buy up all the parts and fit it to my 2019.

Have to agree with you regarding cruise control, it's a wasted feature on SoCal freeways when you're spending more time splitting traffic.
