Hi,
Been a forum member for quite a while in hopes that some day I'd end up owning an MT-10, and a couple days ago this became a reality. Found a 2018 with 4k miles down in San Diego (Onyx Motors), and pulled the trigger on it. Nice bike! $13770 out the door, yes it's too much but everything, especially in Ca, is overpriced. A new MT-10 out the door is more like 17500, which is robbery.
My other bike is a 1st gen FZ09 with 75k miles on it. Recently crashed at the track, so it'll likely be mostly a track bike until I sell it. Cosmetic damage, I walked away bruised. Still have loads of spare parts and tires on hand, so it'll be around a bit. It still rips!
Issues that need addressing on the 10, in no particular order.
- Noisy CCT/Valve train, like my 09 but slightly different clack. Mine sounds like the others in posted videos, so it's typical. APE manual on the way. We'll see if it helps.
- Needs tank grips, crotch banging on tank under braking. Techspec pads on the way.
- Front brake pads don't have much for bite. Brembo road and track pads on the way from Italy. Surprisingly affordable at $71.74 shipped. CarpiMoto
- Would like to get it flashed. VCyclenut flash on the 09 worked out great and will likely send the ECU to him when the time is right.
- Pull CA Evap system, PAIR, exup, etc. when it gets flashed.
- Considering front springs and rear shock some time in the future. Preload maxed on the front forks now as I'm just over 200 lbs geared up and the sag is still ~38mm. Could probably go one stiffer and be right in range.
- Rearsets once it starts going to the track. Need to save up some cash first. Probably will go with Driven.
Cat & Stock muffler will stay on. Yeah it's heavy and make more power removed, but noise is something I'd like to live without.
Obligatory new bike picture attached. Ignore the mismatched leftover Stompgrip pads.
