So far, the response has been rather poor. Five votes. Perhaps polls are not popular? Or maybe the topic is lame. I thought this might be of interest to some of you. Since the manual specifies that two different oil weights are recommended based on riding season and your riding, I was curious as to what the poll data will show. I have no commercial agenda here. I was hoping to get about 50 votes for a meaningful statistical sample.
There are pros and cons to selecting oil weight. I suspect that, as some of you have stated, the choice makes very little difference. Consideration for your choice in oil weight includes the annual temperature range of your riding season, how hard you ride, how many miles you have on the bike, and your oil change interval. I suspect a decent size response would likely show that 70% of the MT10 riders prefer the lighter-weight oil. I wanted to see if my intuition was correct.

Heavier oils take longer to reach all components leading to increased wear. 10w40 full syn for me. Even living in Texas with 10+ track days in 100+ temps never had any issues.

I live in the desert so I went with 10w50 Castrol R1 superbike oil. Personally love it. From 30 degrees to 110 works well!
