The rear tire on my 2021 MT-10 needs to be replaced, but the front tire still has a lot of life left, both are Bridgeston S20. I can not find a S20 rear 190/55-17 instock anywhere. Can I put a S22 on the rear and leave the s20 front on with out having an issue? On my other bike a ZX10r the front and rears wear out togeather so I am not use to having to just chang the rear and not the front at the same time. Curious as to if anyone else has combines an S20 front with an S22 rear?

While not ideal it should be fine. I had a similar issue on my FZ6. Had Pilot 3s front/back and the rear wore out, put a Pilot 4 on back with no issues.

Yes it will be fine. S20S are obsolete and not made anymore. The S22 is the successor after the S21.
Shouldn't be any issue with different tire wear. Most people run their rears down before the fronts so it's pretty common to replace the rear at almost a 2:1 ratio depending how agressive you ride.

I have a S22 on rear new this spring and S20 OEM front. You will notice a huge difference in handling for the better. The new rear feels like it grips much better and transitions are seamless. Not sure if it’s me getting more used to the bike or the tire, but confidence went way up with new rear. Have half life on the front S20. Looking forward to getting the S22 on the front when the OEM wears out.

Heck when my factory S20 ran bald I put a S22 on the rear and left the S20 on the front.
Proceeded to do another 5 track days and a trip to New Mexico (from Texas) with no issues.
Dont worry about it at all.

Get a perrelli angel gt rear and run the front until it's done then gt up front.so far for myself the best tire I've found for this bike. Running a michelin up front until it's done . No handling difference at all.
Matching tires tires is a bunch of crap. As long as they are similar you'll be fine.i have a brand new front gt waiting for install once I burn this front up. 2k on the rear and barely worn .the battleax would be done already.

I've got the Angel GT2's on mine right now (F+R) and so far I like them a lot.

Thinking of changing rear to S22 and keep front OEM S20F. How is your experience so far? Any issues?

I have the S21 on the front and put a new rear S22 on a couple of weeks ago. Few hundred miles and everything is fine.

With Bridgestone rebate I just bought two new rears and fronts for both the R1 and MT-10. As RedandBlack said 2 to 1 rear to front is standard wear on motorcycles.

I too put on the S22 rear with the stock S20 front that came with my 2021 MT-10. No issues what so ever. When this combination is shot I am going to try the Pirelli Rosa IV tires.
