Hey all, the other day I notice my bike would sputter in the low rpms like it wanted to shut off, but as soon as it got above 4K it was like life suddenly came back into the bike. And The bike also has a hard time starting from a cold start. I’m going to change the spark plugs and check ignition coils. Could it possibly be the valve clearances?

I had a similar issue on my Yamaha FZ8 shortly after washing it. I guess I was using much too high pressure because water got near the ignition coils and spark plugs; almost certainly the reason for the misfires.
However, my issue was also noticeable during acceleration; but was most noticeable at idle and low RPM.
How many miles are on the bike?
Has it been exposed to water?
Do you notice any issues during acceleration or only during low RPM?
Any check engine light on?
Good luck! I'm interested to see what the root cause was/is.

I think some other members on here have reported similar issues. Not sure what to search for but scrolling through some of the tech issue forum, maybe you'll find something.
Spark plugs are a likely culprit with low rpm power issues. Especially if it rides rough.

What mods have you done to the bike? I noticed that since my decat and flash the bike runs real rich until 4k then really purr’s when I get just above 4k. Not sure if that will cause issues with fouling plugs down the line as the plugs get older.
