Not a big fan of engine covers. Though, if your into modding the looks of the bike and have other Carbon Kevlar parts on the bike, it seems like it might be cool.

The only ones I don't mind are the GB Racing Covers but only on the R1. It is a Race Style bike and adds to that look.
For me they don't fit the style of the FZ10. I am adding the Woodcraft Engine Covers. I have the RHS Ignition Trigger Cover now and waiting for the Stator Side to be released some time in the next week or so. Functional and fits the style of the FZ10 better.
Just my opinion though. To each their own. One of the great things about owning a bike is making it your own. So to the original poster, mount up whatever makes you happy with the bike. All that matters.

I think that it's important on the R1 / FZ 10. Big deal is the right side cover area and the oil line. That's the direct oil feed for the con rod bearings. Even a small tip over could render the machine helpless and oil the road or track quickly. That being said I don't like case covers that bolt on like the plastic GB deal or the woodcraft pictured. Good bilit covers like the old woodcraft work the best and carbon Kevlar. These are what factory race teams use.
The issue with the bolt overs are the tall case bolts that are the first thing to get ripped off in a crash. It really sucks when you needed to replace the engine cases instead of the case cover.

Teams get paid in most part to run any parts that are on their bikes no matter who it is. That's called sponsorship.
So you're saying that teams using GBRacing which includes almost all of the British Superbike and Supersport paddock, World Superbike like Ten Kate Honda, Crecent Suzuki, Provec Kawasaki, Factory Ducati and Aprilia teams. Also the majority of the grid in Moto2 including Tech 3, Marc VDS, JIR, IODA, MotoGP CRT grid, countless Isle of Man TT and NW200 bikes and bikes run by the previous Milwaukee Yamaha and current Milwaukee BMW team don't know any better? LOL!!!
I would really like to see where your race experience is that makes you more knowledgeable than all of these teams and many more.

I really like when the bolts are extended to hold the cover on get ripped out and bust the engine cases
