Hello All, no I’m not talking religious fundamentalists, I believe in the support offered by experienced Forum members and the genuine will to help others that I’ve experienced in my interactions with forums like this when I’ve needed help with other motorcycles I’ve owned. I’ve been riding my 2017 MT10 for nearly 3 years and love it to bits. Most of its life is spent on the 50k return journey to work and back, I’ve clocked up a further 21000k on top of the 9000k that the first owner completed on it. I’ve ridden road bikes from the age of 14 and for my 60th birthday this November 2022 I have ordered a 2022 MT10SP. I call my current MT10 my time machine, when I’m on it I loose about 15 hard years and 40 wobbly kilograms! I had a call from the Dealer today telling me my new SP should be in his showroom next week! My plan is to hang onto the 2017 as long as my finances allow, continuing to clock up the commuter ks, keeping the SP for all the other motorcycling I do. You will probably have noticed my use of the metric system and probably figured out I’m not in any of the United States, I live in New Zealand. I look forward to sharing the journey with like minded people.

Welcome! I’ll be curious to hear about the differences in bikes. I have a 2017 as well.

I’ve had my ‘22 MT10SP for a week now. The weather has been typical for New Zealand at this time of the year. Cold and wet. That’s my excuse for only putting 250k on the odometer to this point. They were enjoyable kilometres. I can report the quick shift up is a much slicker operation in the lower rev range I often operate in, compared to my ‘17. A result of the whole engine management package I imagine. I have used the quick shifter down a couple of times, I don’t think I should comment on it until retrained my brain after a lifetime of pulling clutch levers and blipping throttles and I’m not sure I want/need to loose that particular pleasure. I can of course deactivate the function in my chosen mode. TFT dash is crystal clear. The amount of adjustability is staggering. An unmolested C mode suits me nicely. Yes, I could feel the difference between the B mode it was set to and C mode, I’m not convinced the intake duct “ports” are a good thing. The changes in tone coming out of them with varying throttle openings are a bad influence. I can feel the differences from my ‘17 in lots of little ways but I won’t go on writing until I’ve covered a reasonable distance on the bike. Akrapovic slip on was ordered months ago, I do miss that little more volume the Akrapovic slip on gives, I’ve got one on the’17. Soon I hope. I take rubbish photos but my MT01 owning buddy takes a very nice photo with his phone.

I had to unlearn blipping on downshifting when I installed my FTECU blipper lol. I still do it on occasion.

I can tell you now the stock mid pipe/cat box is quite different, ‘17 to ‘22. I read somewhere the ‘22 has more catalytic converters than the “Mk1”. Akrapovic lists the’22 as a different slip on, all previous years use the same Akra muffler. There are 2 other CP4 Yammies amongst my colleagues at work. Both have the mid pipes removed and reflashed ECUs, I find them too loud for my taste, also, I’m definitely not looking for performance increases with the slip on, just a bit more volume so I’ll probably keep the stock mid pipe.

That is a beautiful looking bike my friend. Enjoy the ride! Thank you for keeping us apprised of your adventure.
I have to say looking at that 2022 I’m starting to like the new look. The minimal look is growing on me.
